A journalists dream come true, no more cumbersome Cameras the size of a suitcase in some cases. But all put into a camera smartphone that will also have a full microsoft office suite on it soon as well as being able to do everything else a smartphone can do. And take phone calls.

The main reasons why I left my Nokia C7 (Symbian) for a Galaxy SII (Android) were:

    1. Web Browser (opera still lacks when it comes to flash)
    2. Camera (Nokia has been pushing fixed-focus cameras which are a nightmare)
    3. Very, very limited developer support. (I couldn't even get Skype for Video Calling)
    4. A very high-end hardware (1.2GHz dual vs 600MHz single, 1GB Ram vs 256Mb, 16GB vs 8GB internal storage).

Maybe I'm a bit inclined towards perfection. ;)

It's getting the rightly balanced handset and realising the character and strengths and weaknesses of each OS and handset and to be diligent with some of the myths and gimicks out there. I'm just really glad that there are more up and coming os's and a balance of hardware to match as well as surpises that really do make a difference such as a monster camera that could compete with sky or bbc :-) with such humble hardware and under rated os. The lumia with windows 8 update is also worth keeping track of. Keeps selling out. But the pureview... I've even heard of rumours of film makers using it. And what we may also find positive, is the humbleness of the developers behind it.

In an era where you compete with different OS, whats the point of change in hardware..
Probably in 2020, we wont be seeing Nokia..

If only symbian had a web browser that is as functional as the andriod browser then its a good platform for me, beyond that ill stick with my more advanced and better andriod device.

high-horse, 02 Mar 2012oh my GOD! didn't i just say i'm not trying to argue here, ... moreHe didn't even argue with you, why are you being so defensive. All he did was give his opinion. And I'm not tryuina argue here but he has a point. you asked if the CAMERA was better, not is the phone all together ws better. So bringing the OS in makes your point null and void. The N8 was named the best camera phone on the market and now the 808 is taking that title. It may not be the best smartphone out but it will be the best CAMERAphone available.

Sybian isn't what it used to be. Belle is a big improvement, with the good looks of Android and the stability of iOS it wins. But because of the horrible reputation that it has gotten over the years people are writting it off before even trying it out. If they had just invested that money into the app store instead of making WP then Nokia would have made a great comeback

If you don't like it because it's Symbian, don't buy it. It's as simple as that.

By the way, on the 808 that is not your normal version on Belle, it is Nokia Belle Feature Pack 1 which is super charged even more than the standard belle some of us have. It comes with loads more widgets. It also seemed to stir up some positive interest from even iOS users which accept it as equal. The Feature pack one will come to some Nokia handsets. And most handsets that are on 1ghz will have there proccessors clocked upto 1.3 ghz, just with the software alone. Thats pretty cool. And yes it is single core, but can run circles around multi cores too. It seems to be all in the scripting. It wil be a free update in just a couple of months. And it will put you almost equal to 808 minus a satellite lens and 38/41 pixels.

nokia should have pickd android or get a deal like blackberry did-

their linux OS supports android apps.

also on android , like samsung does, nokia could have gotten FM transmiter and special features faster.

in windows phone tehy have to ask microsoft

as i am using nokia e7,as a user i think nokia should do some upgradation of symbian to the updated version of android. to get its fam as previous as earlier.

Mohad, 02 Mar 2012you're crazy. iOS or Android don't need "as many cor... moreiOS5 and android overall does need a far higher minimum bar compared to Nokia's hardware and particularly symbians ultra light footprint. To have the equivalent multi functions running all at the same on all OS's in comparison iOS and android would struggle very much indeed. We have a laboratory here and we test and fix phones here. The results seem to favour Nokia belle and it's power and effieciency. If it was just a single function use of opening and closing apps, then yes i agree with you, that all would cope with marginal differences. Which is good news for all as long as android dosen't crash. But under the microscope with multi function. Or running a vast amount of services at once, multi cores would favour apple and android very much only this instance. What I am glad for in principle is that Nokia, which has had problems with it's leader ship, are now able once again to open more doors of choices other than a 2 horse race. Which I hope we are given more realised qualities of other quality up and coming OS's for us the consumer. Why not have a 3rd or 4th or 5th eco system. Makes life more interesting. I hope blackberry get focused once again. It's the underdogs that we need to watch.
