The main problem I see with this is price.

I don't know about others but when I pay over 1k on something I expect everything it to just work out of the box.

If this were priced like a OnePlus phone it would have been worth the trouble to get apps from unofficial sources.

Anonymous, 20 Sep 2019what about you need Gmail to get the critical info ?You can still use Gmail though to check. I believe that this trend is about Google PlayStore.

This is really positive. To provide users with a CHOICE as to whether they use Google services (and consequent privacy invasion) or not. It is excellent to have a vanilla Android device, OEM supported where you can actually make that decision yourself instead of Google's lawyers forcing OEM to load Google services.

There are plenty of apps that can load apps from the Playstore so that is not an issue. The lack of Google's proprietary services may hurt for a while until software developers adopt Huawei's services (which are open source unlike Googles).

Can't wait to get my hands on one of these phones .. beats custom ROM to me if my choice is Android.

"Yu explained that customers in Asian and Middle Eastern markets will still buy the phones without Google services because the device is so great. He also mentioned that carriers will still sell the devices, even with these limitations."

Really???! I'm not getting Mate 30 for sure due to the missing Google services. If Google decide to block the phone, no APKs will work. And how much I can trust the apps which are installing from Huawei store comparing to Google Play?

drtechnnno, 20 Sep 2019I loved Huawei Mate 20 Pro and was looking forward to this ... moreMore than 400 ppi display is already sharp for naked eye. Unless u watch the display via VR pheriperal. Remember why battery endurance of P30 Pro is great because it only has about 400 ppi. Lesser resolution also makes GPU rendering lighter and smooth gaming. That's why Galaxy Note+ also have FHD+ display option in setting.

No we won't. Not with the that hefty price tag.

But screen resolution and overall package doesn't excite me anymore.
Sorry Huawei, at this pricing you will struggle to sell this in India or elsewhere apart from China.
                            Zero security updates,
Zero software support and still priced like an iPhone which support their devices almost 5 years

Eh? It's good actually. I only use youtube from google. I'm pretty much Outlook user if Gmail isnt forced for Android. I use drive for downloaded file. I store personal data in Dropbox. But i do agree Photos and Maps are something hard to replace. That is why many devs are also mad bcs Google started their monopoly game by charging really high for Maps and Places API.

I missed when Nokia has Here Maps, and i want some company develop an unlimited photos cloud storage.

And as much as i used Google Keep, it's pretty much something i can replace easily.

So Huawei, be independent. Build something together with other companies such as BBK, Xiaomi. Don't involve Samsung and LG as they are really close to US.

Move aside those things as we ditch that Uber app. Thanks for Grab and Gojek.

Sorry for my words...but huawei just peeing on Usa. Good for them finally a phone worth buying. I dont know why but without any mentions but I know what to expect from huawei and they deliver my expectations. Good luck huawei.

sounds like wishful thinking to me. good luck to Huawei.

perhaps it's time to allow unlocking the bootloader and rooting the phone. then users (tech-savvy ones, though) can hack a way to get Google stuff running on it if they really need to.

because, for example, in my country - there are a handful of ride and delivery apps that will simply not work if Google services are unavailable on the phone.
