Mate 30 Pro might be better than iPhone 11 Pro in still photos, but in video iPhone completely trashes Mate due to better dynamic range and color & exposure consistency between 3 lenses. Other phones come close to iPhone 11 Pro in neither of still image or video quality. There's a reason why so many reviewers who were claiming Pixel 3 and P20 Pro had a better camera than iPhone XS are now leaning towards iPhone 11 Pro. It is THAT good.

Huawei P 30/Mate 30
Samsung Galaxy S10/Note 10
Google Pixel 3/4
All are ahead of the iPhone in photography & cinematography.

The night mode images are a bit too soft in my opinion.

The camera on the iPhone 11 is disappointing. Very little, if any, improvements over the X. Even in low light.

The iPhone 11 50mm camera seems to use a stupid exposure time in low-light conditions. It uses 1/25s whereas the digital zoom of the iPhone X chooses 1/4s. Both cameras have image stabilization. Note that a tele camera doesn't need a shorter exposure time if you want it to capture at least the same details as digital zoom. A shorter exposure time only makes sense when there isn't too much noise because too much noise reduces the details.

auto-hdr was on in low light to help dynamic range and high iso. you can not turn it off completely.

A rather predictable comparison outcome. I'm looking forward to an iPhone 11 Pro vs. Huawei P30 Pro vs. Samsung Note 10+ vs Pixel 4XL photo shoot out. Hopefully the Pixel 4XL will be out soon.
I'm particularly interested in difficult to capture real life scenes: 1.HDR tests - photos of backlit people indoors behind transparent glass windows with the bright sun behind them, or a beach photo of a person under heavy shade with the afternoon sun just behind the subject. I'd like to see how well the phone's HDR mode handles the situation - that is, in preserving shadow (person's face) and highlight detail (bright background scenery). If the phone's AI or HDR mode can handle the situation well, then it would be a clear advancement in mobile photography.
Also interested in low light shots, but one that involves moving people in a social event because again, many smartphone owners take shots in those situations like in Disney rides, horror booths, parlor/kiddie games indoors during birthday parties or Halloween/Christmas parties, etc., or photos of fire dancers in a beach at night.
Gsmarena's standard low light comparisons of static landscape photos at night would also be nice to see which smartphone produces the best static nightscapes when there are no moving subjects (only camera shake to contend with).

"iPhone users can now enjoy what Android's had for a year or two"
HDR+ is already a night mode, just a faster night mode and exists since 2013. In 2015/2016 HDR+ took nearly 1s in low-light conditions. When they released the Pixel phones they made HDR+ capture the frames before you press the shutter. Already HDR+ makes things visible that the eye can't see. The "+" stands for low-light according to Google.
