https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_a7_(2018)-9340.php

So all the devices on the list are from 2018 and 2019.
The Galaxy S8 is from 2017 and already received 2 OS updates.

Or if that A7 is from 2017, it would be the only 2017 device on the list which is weird, it makes more sense if all devices on the list are from 2018 and 2019.
So if it's a A7(2018) it's more recent than a Galaxy S8.

Shadocx, 27 Sep 2019A7 (2018)?the article i read said its the one released in 2017. i dunno which A7 is that.
    here for reference...

Just because they are updating to MIUI 11, you thought it's an obligation to update to Android 10?

GeeX, 27 Sep 2019It's not a big deal..just lookt at the MIUI 11 update list.... moreJust because Xiaomi update the MIUI skin doesn't mean they are updating the Android version.
They released MIUI 10 last year on a bunch of devices, but some are on Android 6/7/8/9, don't mix everything up.
Also the iPhone 6s is from 2015, so 4 years old.

Shadocx, 27 Sep 2019Nothing impressive, it came with Android 8.0 Oreo out of th... moreThe difference is that Samsung and many others OEM's they release their phones with old OS intentionally. Look at Galaxy S8 or Note 8 from the same year 2017. Instead of Android Oreo they released it with Nougat. That is bad behavior. So after that they will tell you: we updated it to Android Pie. Ok people you got your 2 OS updates. Bye bye. But Huawei never do that kind of stuff. Last year they relaased Mate 20 with Pie. This year Mate 30 with Android 10. And so on. So it is literally at least 3 major OS release. Credit is where credit is due.

There's no reason why Samsung can't delay the launch of their Note devices by a month and launch with the latest OS instead, but they don't. Meanwhile Huawei & OnePlus release their Mate & T versions with the latest software instead. It's certainly impressive in some regard.

Don't spread misinformation. All top brands usually provide 2 OS updates for their flagships. These brands include Samsung, Huawei, Sony, Xiaomi, Motorola, etc

While i appreciate Huawei for updating the Mate 10 series to Android 10, I must say there's nothing extraordinary about that. The only impressive part is Huawei choosing to launch their Mate series with the latest OS, which lets users enjoy an additional OS update that most other phones from it's year will miss out on.

What can be considered truly extraordinary is OnePlus releasing 3 OS updates to their phones, which is damn impressive.

So any Samsung phone that launched with Android 8 or later will get Android 10. Even the 2017 J series got One UI and Android 9 because they launched with Android 7
