Flashback: OnePlus One's story is one of great success and some missteps

29 September 2019
Initially, the plan was to sell 50,000 units. Six months after launch, the young company had sold ten times as much and would sell much more.

OnePlus One was brilliant for it's time. It had many pros & very little cons, but had limited reach. OnePlus 2 did some things better, but some things worse. OnePlus 3/3T was where OnePlus was finally ready for prime time, and they've only ascended from there.

It's no wonder they've got a huge fanbase & a very positive word of mouth these days.

"...more importantly, it launched a company that became a Top 5 player in the premium segment.

And then they lost the FK crown to Redmi and RealMe.

Seriously, it's a very convenient thing. And please don't give pathetic excuses like "wireless charging is too slow". Quite fast variants of it are available and it is not a big deal to add this feature.

sadh, 29 Sep 2019Ups, the now $600 flagship killer. It's insane that near... moreThey are as much (if not more) a flagship killer as they were then. The key difference is that they do not kill flagships just on price, but with their software too.

OnePlus1: "Never settle with an sd slot"
C'mon guys, i know ufs3.0 is fast af, but i need cheap storage to store my music library(f spotify and the like), psx roms and av content. I don't mind paying an extra 20-30eur for that option(card excluded) as long as that variant is available in my country.

i just got a snapdragon 855 xiaomi k20 pro for 290 dollars, so who cares about "OneMinus feature every year"!

One+ is still a part of BBK , Parent company to OPPO VIVO.
Somehow this is something which very few people know. That's the reason that every One+ design is very similar to OPPO VIVO phones.

Ups, the now $600 flagship killer.

It's insane that nearly 6 years later they doubled up the price.

But if we look closely, almost all flagships are increasing price by $300 from 600 to 900.

Big loss for lineage os(cyanogenmod) and oneplus both. In the end cyanogenmod the bigger loser.
