If not then a patent is required to protect their IP and prevent others from copying them... yet again. Or maybe their method is different e.g., chinless OLED screens.

Love the Community, 29 Sep 2019Almost 10 years overdue. Due to the underscreen fingerprint... moreThat doesn't make any sense. You want them to remove Face ID for an in-display fingerprint scanner? Why would they do that if they believe the latter is less secure than what they're using right now? It would make more sense for them to turn the rear Apple logo into a real scanner while maintaining Face ID. Then you'll have both Touch ID and Face ID, which are more reliable than an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Kingslayer, 29 Sep 2019Razer Phone 2 already has that. But does it respond to various kinds of notifications? The same question applies to the ROG Phone series.

And I don't care how dirt cheap their smartphones are, I'm never going to endure their ad-infested and fugly AF MIUI software.

Anonymous, 29 Sep 2019Steve jobs is rolling in the grave over these apple "innova... moreWasn't he in charge when his company was making MacBooks with their signature glowing Apple logo? And wasn't his successor the one responsible for removing the unique feature? If he were still alive today we probably would've had such an iPhone by now. He isn't rolling in his grave, but he sure is grinning in it. As for the headphone jack, it's never coming back lol. The AirPod is too popular and it jump-started the whole true wireless hearable industry. It's so popular that there are fake knock-offs - and even decorative - AirPods out there haha.

Baykko, 29 Sep 2019This is no big deal. A big deal would be for the next gen I... moreThose are all temporary gimmicks that will die-off very soon. And besides, Apple is doing just fine with their industry-leading Face ID technology until something better and more sensible comes along.

Alex 94, 29 Sep 2019Maybe 2025 year iPhone will be like mi mix Alpha, who knows lol..Nope. Why would Apple copy a smartphone as fragile and gimmicky as that? Xiaomi made the most breakable and impractical $2800+ device ever created lol. You gotta love the Chinese smartphone companies "throw anything and everything against the wall to see what sticks" strategy.

Anonymous, 29 Sep 2019Jokes aside this is something I'd want all brands to adopt.... moreAs long as it doesn't affect the battery life. I like it on my MacBook Air but not on a smartphone, I think it's kind of tacky and unnecessary. It's better if Apple had an on-screen display, or even an ambient one, since it uses OLEDs now.

Why are the typical haters calling this an innovative feature?! Apple never claimed it was and nobody in their right mind would call it that because Apple has done it before, all they're doing is reviving it; we don't even know if they're bringing it back or not but the envious haters can't resist themselves to use another opportunity to bash Apple lol. Keep hating though, it shows your true colors.

Oh my. Will you look at the sheer innovation? It's off the charts with this one.

Actually not a bad idea to make the apple a notification led in different colors. quite a battery killer for such a huge led though.
