Maame Raggae, 03 Oct 20195G is still in its early stages and will even shoot up the ... moreFirst Blackberry 10 OS i.e QNX is alive and well, it is the premier Operating System developed by BlackBerry in Driverless or autonomous vehicles, something Android can not be.
Blackberry 10 App World closes on 12/31/2019 in under 2 months, so if you have a Blackberry 10 and have to flash your phone it is unlikely that the app would be there to reinstall

The reason why Blackberry is now Android is that Blackberry were too late in marketing a phone with a selfie / video call camera
The Z10, Z30, Q10, came out it 2013 considering Nokia released a keypad phone with a secondary camera in 2006

On to your point 5G is both phone user and network, the biggest task is on the network to deliver all the 5G services.
However all a user needs is a 5G capable handset in order to get the services offer.

All the phone manufacturers are doing is releasing their 4G flagship and building in a 5G modem.
Once you have a 5G capable handset, the 2020 upgrades will be better camera, etc, 5G is the biggie

Blackberry were late previously, note though others will release a 5G phone at a comparable price

A FYI the Japan 2020 Olympics will utilize 5G, Apples 5G iPhone is released after the Olympics closes

I using only 2G and 3G on my Blackberry KEY device and if I get a movie from friend or whatever it plays nicely < so if everyone goes to 5G , maybe I go to 4G . 5G is nice for multipleconnections or high video for some reason to eat your data, but will be mostly intresting for business, services and do your really 5G could bring your 4K or 8K streaming for your mobile device , yes ofcourse it could but what is the purposeon a 6 inch screen and you need a good data plan :).

No , I think consumers go for 4G to watch netflix in HD and Youtube.

Michael J, 04 Oct 2019admin what was wrong with my comment? just wrote about 5g a... moreAtleast one manufacturer has a brain. 5g doesn't work normal, only if you stay at the street and staring at the telegraph pole with the antenna. And it eats your battery ''fast''. Same reason why BB doesn't have screens with extra high resolution. Not necessary and eat your battery.

5G is at best future-proofing, tough there is no proof this tech is future proof for all we know the 6G can make both 4G & 5G obsolete and replace both... V-V

no plan to launch any phone

                          not just 5g

its more than 1 year...no phone

                          its broken company

my first dealings with Blackberry were with the Storm and storm 2, followed then by the torch. they were very good handsets in my opinion at the time, but soon fell behind the other manufacturers.
to launch another Blackberry now would require a handset that can match or beat the likes of the latest ios and android handsets and a massive campaign to get the buyers interested again, without this the brand would struggle like Nokia did after the N series of handsets

5G's least interesting adaptation is in mobile phone market as it brings nothing on the table. What does end user get with their 5G tphone hat it can't do with 4G or HSUPA+? Not much. So not having a 5G is absolutely OK for the time being. IoT will be the biggest beneficiary of 5G when those things start to intercommunicate and create huge variables.

Blackberry key series are beautiful handsets to use, I have even tried Motion gorgeous looking handset, but I would really like BB to launch another Passport booted with Android I really do love that thing. Maybe also a new revamped Bold handset as well.

Imagine a Passport successor with latest Android, hopefully Android One, flaghsip-tier chipset, and 5G. I am definitely will wait to see that happen.

P.S I do realize the existence of Unihertz Titan, but that is more for the rugged and all-terrain situation.

TCL did not acquire BlackBerry. They have a licensing agreement.

                                      I don't care about 5G at this point but I'd love a KEY3.
