Mastertooon, 09 Mar 2012WP 7/7.5 -> WP 8 = Upgrade
WM 6.X -> WP 7 = Completl... moreIn case you didn't know.
The WP8 is completely new AGAIN when compared to WP7/7.5
Because WP8 is based on NT kernel, whereas 7.5 is based on CE kernel.
So again... when WP8 is out... MS will say good bye WP7/7.5 user, and you can't download anything new.

Unlike android and symbian, if MS kills windows phone 7 app store, there would be no way to install apps on the phone.

'Windows Mobile' and 'Windows Phone' are not the same OS!
'Windows Mobile' is the very old OS. 'Windows Phone' is the totally new OS.
'Windows Mobile' apps are NOT compatible with 'Windows Phone' apps.
The marketplace for 'Windows Phone' is not going anywhere!
When 'Windows Phone 8' is released, the apps will be backwards compatible with 'Windows Phone' - so the current marketplace and apps will remain.
'Windows Marketplace for Mobile' will NOT be closing today as GSMArena reported. It will close on **May 9th**! People with 'Windows Mobile' phones will be able to update and grab any apps they want between now and then.
--Why can't you report news like this clearly and correctly GSMArena? You just help to spread confusion among your readers!--

there are still many people using Winmo 6.x out there.
me myself still using Winmo 6.5 (Samsung Omnia).
it's sad knowing that MS finally closed the marketplace.
i won't be buying any windows phone again, coz there's a chance that MS will also close the WP7 & WP8 marketplace and abandon the users when they feel it's no longer important to them.....

There are a lot of carrier companies that use devises with Windows 6.5 with signature capture on them. This will mean upgrade time for anyone looking to make a sale.

Oh look, I'm still using my HTC Diamond. Overclocked to 710mhz, running custom ROM, only thing it cant do is BBC iPlayer and thats only 'cos BBC slather everything with drm and change it every second week. Android is buggy, idiot On Slab will never be on any device I own, and WinPho is crippleware.
Never paid a penny for WinMo software, sideloaded the lot practically. Even managed to get an OBD II monitor for free. I certainly didnt bother with MS Market.
The HTC Touch Diamond/Pro, one of the best winmo phones, from an era before smartphones were subsumed by the March of the Idiots.
Hate to say it, but these phones are still selling well and WinMo still has life in it. They're doing a damn sight better than Windows Phone, thats for sure.

aju, 09 Mar 2012i dont like window phone so i dont care its shutt down or ... moreYour statement is so off topic. This is windows mobile, the old and abandoned mobile os. Windows phone is the new experience, and apparently smarter than Android and bolder than ios.

who is still using this software anywz??
maintaining such a store was something unuseful to do and i believe itwas a great move from microsoft because they wanted to end the era that once said "windows mobile is just nothing"
ohh and don't worry this OS 6.x have been there for ages and no one is gonna pull the plug from the 7.5 store cz it's gonna merge with 8.0 store :)
