Is a single x86 core enough to take on the dual- and quad-core ARM processors on the market?

Dave, 09 Mar 2012You really think they can topple Apple or Samsung? You must... moreI don't think you understand the tech and budget Intel has. time will tell. nVidia also has their gpu experience on their side, the industry is still young.

And Apple and Samsung? It will be like Intel vs IBM, now intel rapes the awesome samsung dual cores baldy with a single core cpu. Fanboy much?

We will see how Intel dual core processors will do if now theyre way ahead with a single core.

You havent seen the arm a15 which is best represented by the new texas instruments OMAP 5 dualcore at 800 mhz beating a quadcore arm a9 at 1.6ghz.
    Just google it.
Intels advanced manufacturing process can hardly overcome the inefficiencies of x86.

intel mobile and nvidia. A marriage made in heaven.

Now that would leave the likes of apple dead to the core.

In 5 to 7 years in the Smartphone industry will happen what happened to the PC industry. Intel and nVidia will own the market, the competition can't handle their huge tech advance.

          Mark my words.

the reason for the high score is that the chip seems to render html5 on the gpu. when i force gpu render for 2d on my sensation with 4.0.3 i get 1688 on vellamo, at the stock 1.2 ghz. handily beating this "future" intel chip, with my old a8 clunker.

Intel will dominate the mobile market. They did gr8 on PCs and laptops, lets see what they can do on mobiles.

Adomas, 09 Mar 2012hohohho Samsung fanboy, are we? :D I just said that I have moto razr, and actually don't like samsung but their socs are not bad
                modified cortex a9 isn't bad
but I rather like cortex a15 from TI in 28nm than from samsung in 32nm

Remember guys that we are talking about a single core cpu beating al the dual cores in the market , and this will be even more impressive once it gets ICS update, and when quad cores come to the fight, there will be a dual core higher clock speed of this in the way, ithink its great, better performance with less hardware

not even using ICS yet beating alot of phone but when a15 comes out you really need to push it intel

Medfield Z5280 will trash the current quad-core Tegra3 and go head to head with TI OMAP 5/Qualcomm S4 and Exynos 5210 beasts.

There is Z2580 coming up with dual core, if the single core bench mark is above par ,surely we can anticipate something better from dualcore as well.

GPU performance is low which i guess is acceptable bcoz it runs on old PV540 GPU.

A15 eats lot of battery as on date, needs improvement.

my moto razr score 88500 browser mark and this is gingerbread too and not to mention good old cortex a9
this Intel has no chances with arm chips in 32nm, new samsung exynos will eat that intel , and do not forget about cortex a15 soon
