THE-TRUTH-REVEALER, 18 Oct 2019But then, the responsibility still falls on Samsung. Becaus... moreI only mentioned this could possibly one of the reasons. Of Course Samsung is always responsible, don't worry, they won't blame part-time contractors, or vendor staff getting peanuts after working for days together in a toxic environment....they will come up with a software fix. Remember, they always mentioned earlier that Ultrasonic FPS may stop working properly with screen protectors long before the launch...
All I am saying is this is not a regular use case for any knee jerk reaction and it does not affect not even 1% of the customers currently using it. This is only to give Samsung a bad press to boost the sale of expensive ones lacking features like S10 family

Because Ultrasonic fp sensors were supposed to have super detailed 3 dimensional maps of the fingerprint. They are supposed to be able to detect things like actuation force, depth of the ridges of fingerprint etc. Atleast that is how Qualcomm made them.

How is it that Samsung's fp sensor is fooled just like any other optical fp scanner , by fingerprint residue left on the protector ? Also, the residue left should be same on any screen protector regardless of quality. How will "official" screen protectors help in such cases?
P.S. Not a Samsung hater.

listen to yourself you are saying the left over impression of finger is sufficient to unlock it ?? well in that case it should unlock even without protector I mean the print is already there right ?
or maybe manufacturers shouldn't make surface of fingerprint scanner prone to retain actual fingerprint.
either way this was bad , just accept it , tell samsung to improve and move on.

i bought a screen protector on Amazon, which was pretty expensive ($30 for 2 protectors) and it includes a kit to carefully (at least they say that) clean the screen before placing the glass. I got into panic after reading this news and the cause of the issue (screen protector retaining fingerprint marks), I really hope this protector is worth the price!!
BTW, no issues at this point after 2 months

Samsung: Meet our ultrasonic scanner, more secure than optical.
User: it's very slow to unlock
Samsung: We're investigating the issue, will be fixed in next update.
User: it's working with unregistered fingers now, not secure

To all the samsheeps giving excuses like "it's the the fault of screen protector". If that were the case even user should not able to unlock the phone not to talk of an unregistered fingerprin. Use some common sense.
Moreover, you don't have thesame problems with cheap Chinese phones with low quality screen protectors on them, e.g. the MI 9T.
Most chinese brands now beat sammy when it comes to quality

I've had the s6, s7, s8+ and now the k20 pro, don't think I ever used the fingerprint reader on any of the devices, although the one on k20 pro after 1 week of testing while on android actually was pretty good, i had cut my finger and it didn't unlock until it had healed up lol

This apparently seems to be a delicate issue where the user uses fingerprints for registration, applies a lousy screen protector that retains the fingerprint marks, then after applying the protector when anyone touches their finger, the Ultrasonic sensor wrongly detects the marks along with the touch sense thinking it is a valid fingerprint mark.
I remember Samsung before launching S10, were debating whether they could allow screen protectors for S10 to function its Ultrasonic fingerprint reader. Now, with this, their initial apprehension was correct.
This is not a bug or issue affecting millions of customers but this is a potential issue for some careless users applying screen protectors without wiping the display completely using the supplied liquids along with the screen protectors...
