They are not going to put IP rating, as they don't want to give any warranty on that and pay the certification. Put the puch hole is only to release other desing for those who like it. And basically it'll be the same overpriced phones with higher price but basically the same updated one without extra useful features that customers are demanding.
Always more of the same but more expensive. Never Settle!!! Nothing about under display camera. Probably Oppo will and is the one releasing the new technology too. Like the under display fingerprint sensor, the under display camera that they are developing now and the fastest 65W charging technology, etc...
OP is like other brands that want to figure as premium but in price only, their producs doesn't have the extra features that premium devices, phones cars, etc, always have.

Uhhh, that punch hole is going to be very annoying when watching videos... hopefully they will move it to the most upper part of the phone.

If this is how it really looks like, I can rest assured about my decision to buy the 7T Pro next month.

Damn, I initially bet that they'd implement an under-screen front camera and sensors instead in order to maintain the full-screen design that the 7 Pro (and upcoming 7T Pro) debuted.

It will be nice to see a one plus with
1. a camera sensor of 1"size 24mp and with 2.5micrometer large pixels.(as panasonic did few years ago) with zeiss zoom and TOF. 4k 60p video. All the cameras to have OIS and EIS for both stills and videos. Selfie camera with at least 16mp 1.4micro meters pixel size and good zeiss optics with TOF. Fast auto focus for stills and for videos too.
2. Highly sensitive phone signal antenna for calls and internet.
3. UFS 3.1 and dedicated card slot
4. Dual stereo speakers in real terms with excellent sound volume
5. Large 6000 to 7500mah battery with fast charge and reverse charge. A solar panel on the back for battery charging.
6. Indeed screen not more than 5.5" OLED to accommodate above and to keep the weight below 175gr and well centred. A HDR10 and DCPI colour standards and 4k resolution. Bright daylight visibility needed.
7. A dual band gps for accurate navigation. Highly sensitive and accurate compass.
8. Indeed this will be the best travel companion camera phone for people who travel intensively. If done, a new variety of phone will arise. It will be more popular than gaming phone.
9. Indeed military grade ruggedness, 3.5mm audio jack and IP68 will add popularity of the phone

Adopting a punch hole over a pop-up camera implies that they're doing it for IP certification. No other reasoning would justify it.
Adding a ToF camera is not enough. OnePlus needs to improve their software image processing & multi image stacking algorithm to reach the image quality of it's rivals. (upgrading the hardware itself along with that would be a bonus)
They need to introduce fast wireless charging to their phones (preferably on both, but at least on the Pro model). Wireless reverse charging would be a nice bonus.
Any other features are welcome, but the above three are a requirement for success.

Anonymous, 18 Oct 2019Why I don't buy chinese phones: https://www.hrw.org/world-r... moreKinda hard my friend. Buy any phones you aid China.
China contains most of the rare metals required to make phones. And their workforce make most of the popular phones. The world depends on them to meet the demands of mobile.
Look at the West imposing their ideals on others, any other ideals are quickly deemed as harmful and a threat. Everywhere they go, thousands died, millions suffers. Now, even when they left, people also dies. Sound similar?
But enough of how countries works, even if you boycott. Millions will just step over you and buy the mobile.

Didn't buy S10+ or even note 10+ cause of punch hole
one plus don't ruin the all screen design
plus don't curve the screen too much
it creates distortion while watching videos

Can you all stop complaining about the dam headphone jack! bloody hell!
Live with it, it's gone and won't come back! You get a Type C to Aux converter in the box so the use of the conventional headphone can be accomplished.

OnePlus is no longer a cheap device. Its moved to position itself as a premium device, and target it with higher price.
So people must be harsh and treat it as a premium device. Say NO to poor implementation.

Punch hole - the worst "inovation" in the last few years.

For OP7 Pro users a punch hole might be a down grade. I definitely prefer the holeless/notchless display. Also, the rear camera assembly kinda bugs me. They centre the main lenses then add random bits to one side. Ruins the symmetry.
