Samsung Galaxy S10/Note10 fingerprint issue might be more serious than it appears

21 October 2019
The scanner can be bypassed with non-registered fingerprints with the help of a silicone cutout.

I feel like these stories that come out are just a way for people to hurt Samsung sales. ive never had security issues with a Samsung, I have tried this on the s10e, s10, s10+, Note10 and Note10+ with no success. It may be specific handsets but it all seems abit strange and doesn't add up for me.

Lol...A few banking institutions in the UK have decided to temporarily disable support for Galaxy S10 and Note 10 devices in light of the biometric security issues that came to lightlast week...Sammobile.com

SNA1970, 22 Oct 2019Nothing is safe like a password. FACT.IKR. Try telling them this. For an extra second I'd rather use a PIN and not bother with my fingerprints getting stolen and stored in god knows what database that may be used against me in the next few years.
If they want my digital fingerprints, they'll have to immobilize me first :))

Personally I not sure. My S10 is secure. My wife or granddaughter can't get in my tried this already. I think its bit obscure.

I've used fingerprint recognition to unlock my phone and start internet banking. It is very convenient and fast to unlock your phone with a touch of your finger. But think of this. You have internet banking on your phone that can be unlocked with your fingerprint. Or personal data that can be unlocked with your fingerprint.

Since the Dutch police can legally force you to unlock your phone with your fingerprint I removed my fingerprint to unlock my phone. No one should get access to my phone if I don’t want it. Using your fingerprint is just the same as writing your pin code on your forehead. Who would do that? I think no one does! So why use a fingerprint when everybody can force your finger to unlock your phone?

This is probably paid propaganda. I have the Note 10 and have no such issues.

                Samsung quality control. Thanks, Vietnam.

The Note 10 suffers from serious ergonomics when it comes to unlocking your phone. I used to have an S9 plus, before and the fingerprint worked like a charm. Unlocked the phone in a jiffy. The note 10 unlocking is just painfully irritating, does not unlock in an instant, as you need to place your thumb in the exact location on the blank screen. So now i need to turn on the screen to know where to place my thumb. The other issue, you need to press harder, and even after that, the failure rate is about 3 attempts in 10. Its a big disappointment when you want to open your phone immediately. Miss the finger print at the back. Samsung should have atleast made the finger print sensor scan a larger area of the screen. The face unlock option is the least secure. Anyone with a slightest resemblance, can unlock the phone. Samsung have clearly not put in effort to make this intelligent.
The other issue thats plaguing me is the sound quality when you are on call. They left little room for the earpiece speaker and the sound now somewhat flows through the glass of the phone and sounds irritating . Its not something that sounds crystal clear.

The proximity sensor that is within the screen has certain times failed to switch of the screen, when I am in call, and has resulted in accidental clicks.

Its not always about asthetics, the phone also needs to be practical. The bezeless display glass makes it very prone to cracks. Its ridiculous that you are investing so much money on something that looks so good, only to now put a cover around it.

Otherwise, a wonderful phone. But Samsung should take note and remedy them. These are quite serious issues, and I for one am disappointed. They need to introduce smoother and faster unlocks and make sure the in-sound quality is best for such a premium device. Even if it means putting sensors and taking real estate on the front screen, something that apple still has remaining with their notch.

In screen fingerprint scanner is the dumbest technology ever; since when did people have a problem with back fingerprint scanners anyway?

The real question is would you like a FPS that sometimes fails with the right finger or doesn't fail with the wrong finger.

Other manufacturers does it far better than Samsung. Samsung must be high when decided to use ultrasonic FPSensor.

Got to try this underscreen FP thing and I can say I genuinely hate it. It's much easier to unlock from the back. The whole process can be done with one hand. Doesn't matter how accurate the underscreen reader is you'll still have times where your fingers aren't line up correctly for the reader to do it's job. Will never buy a phone with underscreen FP!
