JP, 14 Mar 2012I am also surprised to see the Desire S up here, mine can b... morethere must be something wrong with your handset.. or maybe you are using too many live widgets that are updated so frequently and live wallpaper and those live lockscreen.. definitely something wrong with your particular handset.. My Desire S is running perfectly fine.. occasional lags with Sense, but nothing much.. even my friend's Sensation lags more than my DS.. i am now using custom launcher and i have not experience the lag anymore..

AnonD-21645, 14 Mar 2012I'm here sharing my experience of HTC updates, which is esp... moreBTW, One X has radio and the non-expendable memory was meant for optimising the speed and performance of the device, also USB-OTG would mean that you could actually "expand" it by using external disk like thumbdrives etc..
the only think that bothers me about the One series (or as a matter of fact, almost all other newer phones) is non-removable battery..
I don't know about that "HTC for life" guy, but for me, i would weigh in other models before i buy, i am now thinking whether my next upgrade will be One X or the Xperia S.. but from past experience, i kept coming back to HTC because it is the one that provides the better balance between performance, design, durability and price..

paseo, 14 Mar 2012Your phone still works, oder ? So what's the buzz ?yeah, agree.. phone is still working, don't get upgrade, so? is not like the phone won't run if it doesn't get upgrade..
anyway, Desire Z, original Desire are all more than 1 year old phones.. so don't expect them to get the latest..
and for Explorer, Wildfire S and the likes, please remember that those are not even mid range from HTC, those are HTC's basic models, don't expect those to get ICS, too.. and they won't be bricked if they don't get.. maybe i should nag to Nokia why my old N70 didn't get Belle..

HTC is responsible therefore ICS is only roll out to phones after proper testing to minimise bugs. Update for all active HTC andriod will not be possible and HTC will be silly to do so, since phone are build with reference to software requirement and some just can't run ICS. Just like no one will run Windows7 on a 386 machines.
If you folk out more money to get a top-end handset, probably will able to receive 1 or 2 more upgrade then lower end one. To be more realistic, all mobile handset a designed to have a expected life cycle of about 15months to 2yrs max, else all manufacturer can close down or your phone is suppose to cost you double.
If you want the latest software, get the lastest phone. Nexus S got ICS because it is a reference phone for ICS anyway, Galaxy SII still stuck with Gingerbread....so do all the Galaxy Tab.....so Samsung not doing better either in term of speed.

I don't understand what the heck is taking HTC so long to release the update already. They started a week ago in freakin' Finnland and the lot, what about the rest of us?

Mike, 14 Mar 2012To all those posting "Y U NO UPDAT MA FONE", take... moreWell said. you can't teach quantum physics to a homo habilis. ICS is quantum physics, Desire is the Homo Habilis. we need atleast a sapien for this.

Impressive, looks like the Desire HD is probably the oldest handset to get an official upgrade to ICS.

Anonymous, 14 Mar 2012Here here! That is really crappy. How can they not update a... moreLOL its funny you said that your switching to SAMSUNG.. Even they dont have much of a list to update the phones to ICS, and whats worse is they wont update Galaxy S to a full ICS.. only to a upgraded Gingerbread.. LOL

NAB, 14 Mar 2012I feel sorry for HTC users! They've had to wait sooooooo lo... moreI'd rather have a phone with good hardware with old software than old hardware with new software.

They should just update all active HTC phones instead of picking a hand full of phones.
