The battery is below par. Thats all there is to it.

Maybe Note 10 only last you only a day in your case which means that Xperia 1 will last a bit more than half a day in your hands so yeah that's not good. Question is how many times do you charge your phone. If your Note is getting charged every night then it's no different than Xperia 1 is it? If you let your Note battery run overnight without recharging it means it will deplete mid day which is actually worst case scenario since Note doesn't have enough juice to go over for another full day.

I know some 4000mAh... morewhen i had the xperia 1, i was only getting up to 8 hours of screen on time maximum. that is with light usage and not really gaming nor multi-tasking. i had it for like a couple of weeks together with the note 10 plus, which with the same light usage i easily get around 12 hours of screen on time. my pocophone f1 also lasts 12 gets 12 hours of sot with such light usage, and heavy usage still gets me around 10 hours of sot. i currently am using an asus rog phone 2, which has bigger battery than any of those i have recently used, and with the refresh rate pegged at 120Hz, i have been able to have heavy usage for 12 hours and still have 25% battery left.
so, really, sony is scrimping on the battery. 8 hours of screen on time with light usage or 6 hours sot with heavy usage is not acceptable at the price they are asking here. the screen is not any better than the galaxy note 10 plus, the camera is not any better than the iphone 11s nor even the note 10 plus, and the "optimization" that you claim is not any better than the iphone 11s nor even my old pocophone f1 (with ads turned off).

So a few joke improvements with an insane price. That level of calibration should have been standard from the start. And oh wow ethernet compatibility and dont even inlcude the adapter for such a price.
Phone companies are disgusting now a days.
