The HTC Titan will receive the Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh and the Windows Phone 8 (Appolo) updates !
Microsoft has only said that the 1st generations of Windows Phones (HTC HD7, Samsung Omnia 7, HTC 7 Pro, LG Quantum, etc.) wouldn't have the Windows Phone 8 update and it's normal !
An iPhone 3GS who runs iOS 3, you update it to iOS 5, it will be just too slow, you wouldn't have the fluidity of the iPhone 4/4S !!
So, the HTC Titan is a 2nd generation of Windows Phone and is actually the best that we can have...
A little thing... WP7.5 Refresh is avalaible since march 21 in China (Microsoft China say that and before Microsoft Italy and with the new name...)

From all the articles I've read Microsoft has been dodging the question like a bullet. In fact they won't even comment about WP8 compatibility with current devices.

Amazing, you must have been the guy who found the iphone 4 in the bar, but going by your name and your isp you're not from the US. So that means your country received the iphone 4 much much later than the US so you couldn't have possibly used it for 2 years. Your argument just lost all of it's credibility.
I find it amusing that Nokia fanboys kept spouting "fragmentation", but now Nokia has fragmentation through Tango as Tango would not be compatible with a pretty good amount of apps.

Backward compatibility of Apps - one of the good features Win O/s has in general. Good Data management.
versatile to run on different h/w platforms.
What i like in Apollo (based on the leaked info) is the similarity between Desktop version and the Mobile version.
Apollo should boost up some computing power to tablets, other than playing games,browsing internet and reading. i'd wish to check out a tablet based on apollo, than a mobile.

Good news, I'm waiting more time for Win 8.
I just about to buy Nokia Lumia 710 and I'll just wait for WP 8.
Android was too complicated and its power sucks. My optimus 2x only last 16H while my Omnia i900 last 2.5 days with email and some calls.

The specs sheets today are nothing more than marketing gimmick for the end user. For the developer those varying components is just hell. The iPhone and Lumia has got it right: almost perfectly balancing the hardware and software so both groups wont have to do most of the work.
