Steven, 14 Mar 2012This is actually genius... it's a lower power OS eliminatin... more But for many fools spec sheet is more important than real world performance. I think most people will buy a phone just because it has dual core cpu.

Why does everyone have a hard on for tech specs? Windows functions absalutly fine on the hardware that comanys have to use, and thats the beauty of it. If windows let manufactures twat aout with different hardware it starts to fragment the os, which is the major kill factor of android. I currently use a iphone and a nokia lumia 800 (iphone is a works phone) Both of these phones are a dream to use and have next to no problems wityh them. But ive had 3 andoid devices before and all of them have been unstable and to be honest nasty. all these companys are doing is making sure there devices work properly. Whats so wrong with that?

Just judging by the lack of comments on this to me suggests people have lost interest in Windows Phone already. I'm sure this will pick up again with WP8.. at least in the short term. Sales figures - even with Nokia's input, are pretty dire though..

This is actually genius... it's a lower power OS eliminating power hungry parts of OS designed for budget phones... this idea could help fix Android

AnonD-3247, 14 Mar 2012Just one small question to everyone - Are they gonna update... moreThe way I see it you have 4 options if you want WP device... 1) you can buy a phone that came with WP7 originally but you run the risk of not getting Apollo... 2) you can buy a phone with Mango originally (like the Lumia series) and have a much better chance at getting the Apollo update but there's still that chance that you won't get it... 3) you can buy a phone with Tango and have your chances of getting the Apollo update between 1 and 2... 4) your final option is to wait for Apollo and then buy a phone running it pre-installed... if I were in your shoes it would be between 2 and 4 and the is simple... if you can't wait go with 2 and you will about a 95% chance of getting the update but you will also get the chance to get use to the UI... if you can wait go with 4 and you will have a 100% chance getting Apollo.

For nokia's sake i hope Microsoft will make windows phone Apollo more open bcos lot's of nokia fans who dont knw much about all this techs wont no why they cant send a song to their friend via bluetooth.
And also Android fans (eg ME) Who love nokia hardware b4We can move to wp we want access to file sys,BT file transfer, mass storage, usb OTG Support .i know mass storage,Panorama app n dual core are coming with Apollo which winP doesn't really need but just to satisfy some ppl lik a quad core on D new ipad for graphics .i hope my dream becomes a reality. Lost nokia fan

I genuinely can't see M$ updating current phones with Apollo.. the reason being is that current 7.5 throttles specs - so manufacturers can only make phones to the bare minimum... if Apollo is the jump it NEEDS to be to compete against other OSs - it probably needs dual core, etc. to function fully...
I think you'll find next year should provide some really good Winmo phones, once the tech restrictions are relaxed... (and presumably will include some kind of 'pure view' tech to differentiate themselves) - but until then, I think it's going to be a very tough year for M$ phones (and Nokia)...

@Kandhari - I am pretty much sure, the First Gen WP7 cellphones wont be updated to WP8. The Nokia Lumia series for sure is gonna be updated but as of now the first gen WP7 cellphones aren't sure about this update.
