Having 90HZ screen on a 2700 mAh battery with no games or apps supporting 90HZ is like a buying buggatti chiron for driving in Russian Siberia where are no first class roads.

Anonymous, 26 Oct 2019No it does not, not even close, i have the ipad pro and iph... morespeaking from real-life experience here. i went from razer phone 1, to razer phone 2, and now am on asus rog phone 2. i was using these alongside with pocophone f1, xperia 1, and galaxy note 10 plus. i kept the phones with 120Hz refresh rates and sold back the other that were operating on 60Hz for this reason. by the way, even before this i was using a gaming monitor with 144Hz and upgraded to one with 240Hz and i also see the difference.

s-pen pusher, 26 Oct 2019once your eyes have been spoilt by higher refresh rate, eve... moreNo it does not, not even close, i have the ipad pro and iphone x, you notice the difference after using the ipad pro and switch directly to a 60hz display but after a while when you are immersed with what you are doing you will completely forget about the refresh rate
The way you say it seems like you are just getting references from a youtuber, actual experience is and will always be that after a while using a 60hz and switch to 90hz you do notice it but when you go back to 60hz and use it daily you will forget how 90hz look like until you use a 90hz device again
Again 90hz is a hype from youtubers who review devices, it is not practical if your battery usage takes a hit

Anonymous, 25 Oct 2019actually if 90hz will hit the battery usage within the day,... moreonce your eyes have been spoilt by higher refresh rate, everything else with lower refresh rate becomes a pain to see. i have experienced this on my razer phones (1 and 2) and now with the asus rog phone 2.

Xinito27, 25 Oct 2019Is this a joke? no cell phone should go over 800 $Then go buy the mid range phones, don’t expect top of the line specs that is below $800
Oneplus is not really top of the line since it has compromised specs

Why not allow the users to flip a switch in the settings to select the best refresh rate for themselves?
This is stupid decisions, by Google, was due to the silly small battery capacity.

actually if 90hz will hit the battery usage within the day, i would rather have it automatic or at 60hz. battery is more important than refresh rate. only youtubers are hyping the 90hz, its not like you are always scrolling your phone the whole time to appreciate the fast refresh rate.
in reality you use your phone when you text, call, email, notes, reminders, social media, camera, games... every time you unlock your phone you know which app you need to use, it not like you just unlock you phone to just scroll it and lock it again. there isnt enough time to really notice that 90hz

AnonD-122899, 25 Oct 2019Should I get a Pixel 3 XL instead of Pixel 4? I don't reall... moreNope.
The Pixel 3XL is still expensive in most markets, and it's a lacklustre product overall.
I would look to get a Samsung S10+ instead, which is almost the same price. Otherwise there's the Samsung Note9. If software is important, look to get a OnePlus 7t on discount. If the audio is important to you, then look at getting a Razer Phone 2 or ASUS RoG Phone 2. If you're interested in value, look to get the Lenovo Z6 Pro (8GB/256GB) for USD $440, just note you miss out on Ingress Protection and the Front-firing stereo loudspeakers.

I don't reall... morePixel 4 does upgrade the camera although still lacking ultra wide ... for the 90Hz if you tried it and you can live without it then it's fine... for now, the pixel 3 xl is good enough for you... but also remember that pixel 4 will have software updates much longer... if you can find cheaper pixel 3 xl, go for it and wait for Pixel 5..

Pabliell, 24 Oct 2019Don't know why Google even implemented the 90 Hz refresh ra... moreSorry but it doesn't work that way. You have a dropout because either hardware (GPU, CPU) isn't ready or needs time to ramp up or because it simply cannot keep up. The whole idea of going up over 60 FPS is to try to compensate for dropouts so that you can't notice it. But perhaps it would be better to produce the adaptive sync with the 60 FPS display with ahead buffer (already been used but only for couple of frames) it would certainly at least cost less in power requirements and hardware requirements (new display), paid in RAM...
