It's essentially the same phone as the non-T, only this one has NFC - 'multi-functional' too.

Wonder the pricing of 128gb

MasEnha, 27 Oct 2019What the heck, smaller screen, smaller battery, worse chips... moreWhat are u talking about???

Anyway this is a disappointing 'upgrade' over the already slightly 'disappointing' RN8.

This particular generation have annoying yet understandable take on "upgrading"
They choose to keep the power in "enough" category and focuses on getting more efficient chipset as the rest of the market is aiming for bigger battery and longer SoT.

They choose SD665 as it have "enough" power as it comparable to SD660 but more power efficient as it built on 11nm compared to SD660 14nm system.
Annoyingly, the same reasoning used to give Redmi 8 SD439 (12nm) instead of SD632 (14nm) despite vast difference in power.

While Redmi still pretty competitive in spec to pricing to most of their competitor. But now they have to face aggresive RealMe and the pretty decentAsus MaxPro series which will devour their market if Redmi playing it way to safe.

Xiaomi should NOT release 2 series from a line in the same year.

Used to be a competitive series back in the Note 4/5 days. Now, it just release after release saturating the market with none of it actually popular. I don't even see people using Xiaomi anymore.

What the heck, smaller screen, smaller battery, worse chipset (in term of perf) and NFC is already there in current version (except for Indian market). Its should be called Redmi Note 8 Lite instead.

Release fewer but better phones and then it's also easier to give long term software support and new Android versions

Anders, 26 Oct 2019If you look at some of the SOCs that Realme have been using... moreAll in all, Xiaomi should release less phones to increase the overall quality and specs. The reason their newer generations have some downgrades compared to previous generations is because they release so much phones! (OK maybe not worse than OPPO/Realme)

And I believe they overdid it with some series, such a Mi 9 series. Just look at this:
                      1- Mi 9
                      2- Mi 9 Pro
                      3- Mi 9 Pro 5G
                      4- Mi 9T
                      5- Mi 9T Pro
                      6- Mi 9 Lite
                      7- Mi 9 SE
There are 7 Mi 9s! I think that some of these were unecessary, such as Mi 9T and one between SE/Lite.

Next year, they should release these series like this:
                      1- Mi 10
2- Mi 10 Pro (Something better than the vanilla Mi 10)
3- Mi 10T (Redmi K30 with SD865, no need for Pro version)
4- Mi 10 Lite (The camera-focused phone with mid-range specs)
                      That's it!

Anonymous, 26 Oct 2019Yeah, if you consider the chipset, then RN8 with SD665 isn'... moreIf you look at some of the SOCs that Realme have been using in this price bracket like Snapdragon 712. Then it's pretty reasonable I think to expect something between 675 and 712.

Like the Mi 9 Lite had a 710 which for me should've been a 730 to compete with Realme X2 and now Xiaomi are working on a new version of the CC9/Mi 9 Lite with a 730.

On the Redmi 8A they upgraded the battery size but downgraded the SOC. They have been making some strange decisions lately Xiaomi

This is what I mean by they keep releasing good phones with 1 or 2 odd weaknesses then releasing a slightly better version a couple months later.

Anonymous, 26 Oct 2019Ah I see now. Damn. What you think? For me it's a little disappointing

Anders, 26 Oct 2019Xiaomi keep releasing phones that are good but with 1 or 2 ... moreYeah, if you consider the chipset, then RN8 with SD665 isn't a worthy successor for RN7 with SD660.
Considering the fact that RN8 Pro packs a Helio G90T (which is at least on par with SD730) they should used SD710 or SD675 or maybe SD670 for the vanilla RN8.
This is one of the reasons I disliked RN8 series, unlike the previous Redmi Note series.
