Actually kind of tired seeing so many camera sensors on smartphones nowadays..Sony's so happy with business booming that they're even building a new plant just to keep up with the demand while none of these cameras are equal to the other ones in the pack though in reality are greatly inferior to the rest..

I don't mind 2 as people and animals usually have 2 eyes and I can also let the 3rd one slide as the third time is the charm but 4 I think is the max OEM's should go for at most..

Why can't the focus be on DSLR rivaling photo producing and Ultra-Wide sensors that may even have a little hump on the back instead of all these shenanigans?

Why the need to fuel corporate greed and deplete rare earths without even acknowledging the workers' extreme (and usually fatal sooner or later) working conditions by compensating them with a fair living wage ?

The 48MP might not capture as much detail as a true 48MP sensor, but it definitely much better at capturing detail than a regular 12MP sensor.

They could have easily use a more universal, easier to relate name. Now you got a Mi 9CC and a Note 10, sound like 2 different phone completely. It just look like they are a generation different.

It's a fundamental part of the sensor design. Or not, in the case of these 108MP sensors.

sohail shafayat, 01 Nov 2019I don't agree, Xiaomi is advertising 108MP and in 108/64/48... moreJust because those companies don't use them doesn't mean it's crap. Sony and samsung both produce those sensors. And especially for sony, no one will believe sony make a bad sensor.
You need to forget the hardware and focus on the software. Hardware doesn't really concern anyone these days.

Pixel binning does exactly what bigger pixel size does, except it's by software and of course, there will always be software limitation.

It's not just brightness, it's also detail, contrast and everything else. Read here : www.androidauthority.com/what-is-pixel-binning-966179/amp/

sohail shafayat, 01 Nov 2019More mega pixel doesn't mean more details, stop lyingThats right, but this sensor also have a bigger sensor, and that matters.

Oneplus loled, 01 Nov 2019Nowadays ? Yes, it very much will. Those 48/64Mp modules o... moreI don't agree, Xiaomi is advertising 108MP and in 108/64/48MP mode the image quality is terrible and it's a midrange thing. Pixel binning helps in improving brightness but not in capturing details. And none of the premium brand (samsung, sony, LG, apple) flagships are using this crappy sensor

I am preatty sure the 5x zoom camera is a actually a 2.2x/3x zoom that is cropped to 5x zoom. For example OnePlus's 3x telephoto has acutally just a 2.2x magnification that produces a 12MP shot wich is then cropped to a 3x 8MP immage wich is really stupid and useless in my opinion because everyone who can use a smartphone can crop an image.

Those 48/64Mp modules out there have proven by binning the pixel together, e.g 4 in 1, has hugely increased the output result.
Not the same but pixel binning is like pixel size. Binning 4 pixel of 0.8 micro in pixel size n is equal to one 1.6 micron pixel size.

Think it like GPU. Using integrated DSP by qualcomm can only give you so much power but like sony have done before, adding dedicated DSP + DRAM on the module can really make a huge difference

Come on this is becoming ridiculous! To achieve a true camera those phones need to stop being made so thin

Ok,Mi9t is a great device.this new one will have better cameras and bigger battery..Waiting for the pricing..I guess my new phone for Christmas sales..

Look at that Macro camera placement. It should be near or inbetween the 2 LED flash. Imagine doing macro with your phone's shadow ruining the shot. lol.

The 2MP macro and 5MP zoom camera could have, quite frankly, been avoided.
The rest of the camera setup is pretty impressive.

Hopefully the next iteration of Snapdragon's top end SoC does 108MP at 30fps, so that it does full resolution HDR and also allows for multiple combinations of the camera for image fusion etc.

This camera setup is a mess, so is the device
