Waahhh, this phone actually exist? I thought it was just a myth. I was looking for this phone in my country but I can't even find one. They only appeared in flash-sale, which ended in about 2 minutes and then when you ask why you can't make, the seller said they already ran out of stock. The weird thing is, everyone in my country complained to asus social media about this problem but didn't get any reply.

Anonymous, 05 Nov 2019Wait a month more, then you'll see.. Oh, ok we will see in Janurary 2020 where my Note9 gets a year old, also LCD got display issues too for example the backlight bleed issues. It can happend on phones too while OLEDS don't suffer that issue.

Kangal, 05 Nov 2019OLED has true blacks and are generally setup with high satu... moreOLED does not always have saturated colors, you can disable that on settings (usually that setting is called "basic") and LCD can look saturated too, it just depends on the display tuning, Samsung before like 5 years ago, used to make all their displays look oversaturated on even LCD displays. So the only thing with OLEDS that have over LCD basically are the true blacks and battery life.
About that 4+ years phone, you can actually buy one of these, i think it is called the fairphone 2, maybe it does not check all the boxes, but it better than what other manufactures do. And in case that you still get one of these glass sandwich phones, if you want, you can keep using it for 4+ years, just that the battery will be worse so you might have to replace it apart from that, the phone will be good still, just ask any iPhone 6 owner.

Pixel is the new HTC, 05 Nov 2019Near stock is trash Only low spec people worried about s... moreExactly finally an intelligent comment in a sea of comments saying Android skins in 2019 are slow or not preferable over just stock skin.

GAMIRSFM, 05 Nov 2019LCD does not look as good as OLED though and we can have bo... moreOLED has true blacks and are generally setup with high saturation. So yes, OLED "looks better" than LCD... but it doesn't mean that it is.

And what looks better can be subjective as there are some people who dislike the saturated colours and prefer a more natural palette. Then there's the topic of refresh speeds, power draw, notch/holes, aspect ratio, resolution, and subpixel arrangement. So you can't actually say OLED is better than LCD or vice versa. You can say you personally have a preference for one over the other, or state their differences.

Case in point; the 2017 Samsung J5 display compared to the 2017 iPhone 8 Plus display.
Other devices with great LCD displays are the iPhone XR, LG G7, Razer Phone 2.

Now, if you are buying a phone and upgrading it within 1.5 - 2.5 years, then stick to a device with a SkinnedOS, Locked Bootloader, OLED display, Sealed Battery, Soldered Internals, and Curved Glass body. However, if there is a phone that you wanted and to keep it for +4 years, then you should be looking for StockOS, Unlockable Bootloader, (Super IPS) LCD display, Removable Battery, Modular Internals and Flat Metal/Plastic body.

...before you say something like "who would want that", I'd like to point out that there is actually a big market for those properties, but they do not meet the OEMs conditions of Planned Obsolesce. Additionally, people would hold on to them if it had a unique feature they can't get elsewhere, such as a proper Gamepad support, qwerty keyboard, running a special software (eg Sailfish OS) etc etc.

I'm having a bit of trouble here!
if someone can help me understand

i had HTC one m7 ds, Samsung GN edge, GS7, GS9 and now i have an LG V20

i didn't have burn in any of my Samsungs but had a bit of color degrade in both HTC One and the edge part on Galaxy Note Edge. (Color degrade is different than Burn-in)

but I have massssive burn in in my LG V20 which is IPS-LCD?!?!?!

                so how is that?!

now back to asus zenfone 6. i'v been thinking about going from my V20 to that because it IS a GREAT phone for value, but after ROG2 release, i'm keeping my money for that. i think it would be a better upgrade than Z6.

Luxor, 04 Nov 2019Early update due to clean version of Android. Hope more man... moreNear stock is trash

Only low spec people worried about skin UI because their phones become laggy....

Buy a decent midrangers, and enjoy the features that are non existence in stock android.
You don't even have basic functions its laughable...

GAMIRSFM, 04 Nov 2019Apple still sell IPS screen phones because they can rip-off... moreActually, in my country, apple lcds are sold for cheap. supposedly original as I don't own an iPhone, but other users who got it repaired didn't mention any problems. Prices go as low as $25 for the iPhone 5 screen.

As for the 10 upgrade, I'd advise to wait a few weeks, first upgrades are usually a bit buggy.
Still, quite a feat from Asus. Hope they get it upgraded to 11 next year as well.

With the price, I'm not complaining on the LCD, but if there's a Zenfone 6 Pro with Amoled then i like that

Kangal, 05 Nov 2019Yeah, but the technology between them (Monitor vs Phone) is... moreLCD does not look as good as OLED though and we can have both removable batteries and IP68.

GAMIRSFM, 05 Nov 2019Bruh, i know. Thats why OLED is better suited in moible. Yeah, but the technology between them (Monitor vs Phone) is the same.
                            So their point still stands.

I have an S7 in my house with burn-in, and that's a relatively new phone/display technology.
If you want a phone for longevity, it's better for it to have an LCD screen and Removable Battery as opposed to an SAM-OLED screen and IP68 sealing.

Oled is still far more superior to IPS even with the burn in issue. My 3 year old Oled LG tv is still flawless and the image quality is still 10 times better that gimmicky trash Qled

LCD-IPS is still the longer life display, until we use Synthetic-diodes instead of Organic-diodes.
