put it this way all carriers/samsung have until monday, after then they cant use the "week commencing" excuse.. shouldn't be too long now but this is frustrating, apart from the comments on here its not easy to find any good info about whats happening with this update... i'm waiting on tescomobile or O2..

When in Australia? I tied Odin with Nepali firmware, but no happy with it.you even can't trace out which OS is this.benchmarks are higher on gingerbread.just the as card read write is fast on ics.face unlock is boring after couple use.now I roll back to gingerbread again.

So even if my phone is unlocked its probably orange carrier bound? so how do i make it 'unbound' to orange? by flashing somthing called kernal bla bla? What if i flash ics kernal and official europe rom thingy? Will it be any different than the uk version? and will that mean i'll start getting updates along with europe? like with poland and hingary got that update?

Someone please guide n advice... thankyou.

Mark, 20 Mar 2012im in london...baught my s2 here...My s2 says orange on its... moreunlocked means it runs any sim . but orange have the tentency to sell unlocked phones that are just like carrier bound the only diffrent is that theyre unlocked. So if it says orange on the back it means youl have to wait for orange to release an update for your model.

if you want an international version you need to buy it from online electronics stores. If you buy from t mobile/orange/three/o2 even if theyre unlocked you still get carrier locked phones

                        To explain this better :
Each carrier has its on firmware installed on theyre carrier bound phones. Those come in locked/unlocked versions. Those versions carry allot of carrier specific bloatware and you need to wait for the carrier to release firmwares for you as oposed to the international version who gets updates directly from samsung.

My galaxy S orange bound with unlocked sim is still stuck on 2.3.4 when theres already 2.3.6 available for it on the international version.

Beware the updated bootloader in ICS. Intratech over at XDA has the firmwares with the old bootloader so I use the version he uploads.

im in london...baught my s2 here...My s2 says orange on its back near the speaker...so im guessing its 'unlocked' not sim free right? so ill be getting the update when orange gives it? through kies? or when its just given on kies by samsung for uk?

Im confused. all i know is that i keep trying kies and nothing there

Updated it and so far it works like a charm !!! I have no complaints, browser works faster, face unlock works as well ( although I find it a bit useless ) and update was really easy. All my applications remained on the phone and even got updated. VERY impressed by the speed of the release to be honest.
