Bigger sensor size allows to have bigger pixels, I don't know why they chose more amount of pixels instead of that. Probably it's more marketable, I don't see that much difference in quality of photos.

So far the best smartphone cameras had real pixel size of 1.4 (samsung, apple) or around 1.4 (Huawei).

I'm glad 108MP is innovative because it's going to bring back Big Sensors again. No more 1/3.x or 1/2.x. I want all phones to come at least one or two 1/1.x sensors. Big = better

Found a couple deffinitions.. these are for 7p lense.
"optical zoom lenses, multiple lens elements designed a certain way can help reduce optical aberrations such as chromatic aberration, spherical aberration, distortion, etc. But whether the improvement is noticeable or even desired is a subjective issue..."
"7P means the lens will actually have 7 optical elements - typically high-end cameras have 5P or 6P lenses, but Xiaomi went a step further"
So 8p lense should be even better but depends on how the lenses where put/stacked together .

I wan't slimmer phone, less gimmicky camera, Snapdragon 855 (not 855+ doesn't problem as if it is cheaper). I wanna try curved screen from Xiaomi. So I'll pass this.

I got the early bird coupon for 489.99 which isn't too bad. But the phone is lacking bands 12 and 17 so it won't have great coverage in America. Bummer. Xiaomi mi 9 (China,global) has great support here in America. Hope the global version of this phone supports at least band 12 or 17.
