Ecosystem kinda forces iPhone users to pickup the Apple Watch... Everything else will be sub-par when used on iPhone!

Everything smartwatches do does the phone for that simple reason i dont need to support Crapple and their expensive rubbish.

I bought the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active for 2 things ;
1) recording my heart rate while doing exercise; i'm more than sixty and i'm careful . It is very informative about your overall health.
2) I hate carrying my smartphone all time. With my watch i get notifications of calls and messages when i'm back in the proximity of my smartphone. Don't need to look each time if i had a message.
There's a plus, it can analyse the quality of your sleep and put numbers on it.
Around 2 days of battery life. Overall very useful, i don't wear it everytime. I will probably buy the next iteration.

Smart watches are pretty useless.
I am looking forward to next generation of wearables which are bigger, smarter and actually productive.
Smart watches offer very limited functionality over a smartphone.

Any watch that needs to be charged daily is useless in my opinion, I use a Garmin watch because I need to have GPS analysis of my training runs, the Garmin needs charging once a week even with 5-10 hours of GPS run logging.

They're also incredibly refined in how to use a watch SMARTLY. The software is also unmatched on carrying a small footprint suited for minimalist electronics. Samsung's custom firmware I'd undoubtedly better suited for the job than Android.
That is the reason why Samsung has grown faster in the business than any other brand this year

I wonder why everyone makes it sound like the Apple watch is the only worthy watch out there. Pretty obvious that as long as iPhones sell well, the Apple watch will be the dominant seller. iPhone users dont have flexibility in their choices and they prefer only Apple products .its pretty much only an apple watch that will properly work for them whereas watch sales on the Android side will always be spread across different brands. I'm a Galaxy watch user and will stick to it as long ad I have a galaxy phone. But if i switch to another brand of android I have other options that I can go for.

I handle toxic/corrosive substances at work since I work in a lab, but I still need a convenient way to keep track of time. I'm not fool enough to risk an expensive piece of electronics, so that's why I still use a $10 watch.

How are you going to beat Apple when every other month you hear about how an Apple watch saved someone's life in the news? Apple Watch has also become a tool to lock in their iPhone users.

Samsung using their own OS, Huawei, Fitbit, Xiaomi also their own... And they all are missing a lot of things including many apps. So how many smartwatches actually using OS made by google? Btw Google's OS for smartwatches are really bad.
So at the end there's no real competition for apple. And chinese brands are still in the list because of population of China, which mostly buying them, Fitbit is for all fitness obsessed people, Samsung still trying to find their style

Apple isn't any better or a leader until they support other platforms
Since the apple watch is only iphone only, they can't be leaders in it unless it actually supports android

The apple watch is the best there is but that is not the reason they dominate the market. They dominate because Apple users must own everything Apple that they can afford, while users of other brands like Samsung don't buy something from their chosen brand unless they really need it.
