Nick Tagataka, 08 Nov 2019"S10+ photos are better. When you zoom in, the quality stay... moreSamsung S10+ was never defeated by iphone, never bested by it.
Samsung S10+ produces better quality photos in low light and daylight.
When you zoom in on a photo from main camera, this is obvious.

And Mi CC9 Pro defeats Samsung S10+ and Iphone. It is only matched by Huawei P30 Pro in photo quality.

There are plenty of examples in GSM compare tool with similar lightning, and Iphone main camera loses every time to Mi CC9 main camera.

It seems that you just don't know.

Dealler, 08 Nov 2019Of course you would, we would not expect anything different... moreYour have some kind of madness with that reply, you tell me that all the other phones are rubbish? You must live in other dimension, in the world of the dreams of children or in some enchanted world for say these things. Already before i said which phones are comparable to the iPhone and already said that the iPhone is a capped phone for all the effects.

Anonymous, 08 Nov 2019S10+ photos are better. When you zoom in, the quality stays... moreI actually prefer the s10e camera to my s10+ camera, even our samsung representative said my s10+ cam doesn't take as good pictures as my friends s10e. I work for a telecom company that's why we have a samsung rep.

B0B, 08 Nov 2019The Mi CC9 Pro's Score is obviously so high because of it's... moreThe main on the CC9/Mi Note 10 is just awesome. Not only in 27MP mode when the lights drop, but also at its maximum 108MP shots in good lighting. The outdoor shot of taht building with a clock on the wall (gsmarena's review) is just stunning with details, colors, the works :-)

Anonymous, 08 Nov 2019S10+ photos are better. When you zoom in, the quality stays... more"S10+ photos are better. When you zoom in, the quality stays good"
Are you talking about zooming in using a telephoto lens or just looking at the image at higher magnification? If you're talking about the latter, then no, S10+ looks horrible when you look into it closer. Oversharpened and water colour like processing, but for some reason there are still visible noise in the image. IMO S9+ produced far, far more pleasing photos than S10+ detail wise.

                    "that's just artificial saturation"
Samsung is the one who is known for artificial saturation, what are you even talking about? Apple has always been famous for natural colour palette. While ago I went outside and took some photos with my friends using our smartphones, and compared my P30, S10's images to my friend's iPhone XS' images - her iPhone XS produced consistently true-to-life photos than those taken with my P30 and S10, that had less accurate WB and much higher saturation respectively. It looks like this year's iPhone is applying more sharpening and clarity boost to the image, but the colour reproduction seems to be roughly on par with iPhone XS, looking at the samples on the internet.

"Smart HDR" is just a different word for changing saturation and contrast"
NOPE, sorry but you're absolutely wrong. Google is your best friend here, go search it up what it actually does.

"The point is not to capture "wider" dynamic range, but accurate dynamic range"
"The phone can have greater dynamic range, but if it has inaccurate colors, it is inferior"
There's no such thing called "accurate dynamic range" lol, if the image has a wider dynamic range then it's closer to what your eyes see, since human eyes can capture so much more details in highlights and shadows than any digital cameras can. Now, aggressive HDR processing sometimes does indeed lead to the loss of local contrast, but iPhone 11 Pro handles it actually pretty well, much better than iPhone XS did last year. Plus, you can't even compare those two samples due to completely different lighting conditions, so your argument is moot.

"it has the same quality as Huawei Mate 30 Pro"
In low light photos? You're dreaming sir. CC9 Pro might be using a superiour sensor to Mate 30 Pro, but Mate utilises more effective HDR and much better noise reduction algorithms which make it the best low light phone camera in auto mode. There's pretty much no DR extension going on with CC9 Pro's camera in dimly lit conditions, that's why you can see so many burnt highlights in its sample photos. Details are also smoothed over and there aren't much textures left in the shadow areas. Sorry again but I would say Pixel 4 and iPhone 11 Pro are still better night time shooters than CC9 Pro.

Anonymous, 08 Nov 2019Phones that come with 1080p recording default = tested 1080... moreThey changed the metrics from 1st of November, they´ll be using the max video setting instead of default ones so they can provide a better comparison. Seems fair to me.

Flossy420, 08 Nov 2019People see numbers and think a 500$ phone has a better over... moreDoesn't need to cost more than $500 for be better than the iPhone, with a capped phone by their OS about freedom and abuse of control of the phone by the OS, loses immediately the value, and in terms of hardware is as good as a Realme X2 Pro, which costs $500, the most equipped version. This phone of Realm is as good as the iPhone. If you want another phone as good as the iPhone, there is the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro Premium Edition which about the same price of the Realme phone. If you want a phone as good as the iPhone with the prices as the iPhone then take the Asus Rog Phone 2 with the option of 1TB memory storage.

Anonymous, 08 Nov 2019S10+ photos are better. When you zoom in, the quality stays... moreNot sure where you get the review from. iPhone image generally is more muted than the likes of Samsung since many years ago.

The sample you posted is difficult to compare due to the lighting situation, the iphone shot was done in a clear sky with good direct sunlight, whereas the one from Mi CC9 is on an overcast sky. The direct sunlight make the foliage having way more micro contrast. Lighting have a huge effect on the image contrast and color. I have been shooting landscape with my dSLR for a decade, and this is something i pickup up many years ago. Just look at the rest of the images, the CC9 is actually more satuated.

As for HDR, I can't say iphone is good or bad, but Samsung Note 10+ definitely have some very weird color when it tries to overcompensate the colors, blown up sky becoming greyish blue instead of sky blue. It seems that not enough color depth is captured to fully recover highlights. This is something i have noticed in couple of videos.

And finally, I have never owned a iPhone nor a apple fan. In fact i have never owned an iPhone, only been a Samsung and current Xiaomi users. But i must agree that iphone have one of the better color and HDR balance. Can't say much about CC9 until more review is done.

And now imagine that ISOCELL 108MPX from Samsung in a Samsung phone with Samsung optimization. It will destroy everything in sight, especially Apple.

Nick Tagataka, 08 Nov 2019"Samsung S10+ beats it. Huawei P30 Pro beats it." Not real... moreS10+ photos are better. When you zoom in, the quality stays good. Similar with P30 Pro. Iphone, not as good. Detail? Not as good in Iphone. Not when you zoom in.

Now, the colors that you are talking about. I already told you, that's just artificial saturation. Apple increases saturation on it's photos and videos to make it look good(it looks as if it is a cartoon), where with some other phone you might want to edit colors after recording.
If you want a realistic photo, throw away your iphone. It can never correctly produce colors, as it always adds saturation, both in videos and photos.

"Smart HDR" is just a different word for changing saturation and contrast. I can achieve the same with almost any phone and a bit of editing. Iphone just does it for you while you are recording.

"The color saturation on iPhone is generally on point in both video and still photo" - No, it doesn't look like what human eye sees. So it's not on point.

This is a photo from Iphone, clearly over saturated and unnatural:
                                  https://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_11_pro_max-review-1991p6.php#image14

This is a photo from Mi Note 10:
                                  https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_note_10-review-2020p6.php#image3

Even when you don't zoom in, it's clear that Mi Note 10 is way better. It takes more realistic photo, and if I want to add saturation, I can add as much as I want in editing.

Iphone captures wider dynamic range? That's not even a valid argument. The point is not to capture "wider" dynamic range, but accurate dynamic range. The phone can have greater dynamic range, but if it has inaccurate colors, it is inferior.

Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro takes great photos in low light. I don't know where did you hear that it doesn't. When you zoom in on low light photo, it has the same quality as Huawei Mate 30 Pro. Huawei captures more light, but that's about it.

The iPhone probably takes better main camera photos, but it's zoom isn't anywhere near the CC9 Pro. So, all stop fighting on which is better, who cares? They are both awesome

Anonymous, 08 Nov 2019But you can't use gcam on iPhone like on cc9 pro. You're acting as if gcam is the holy grail of image processing. Pixel and iPhone can go head to head with their own respective camera processing
