Say what? This sonds like an excerpt from a horror novel.What really became of Nokia?Where is the Nokia that gave us the N95?I want back the company that brought music to my life with the 5130 xPress Music back in 2009. Seems the Nokia management is too myopic to see the options at their disposal rather than axing jobs!

I love Nokia but.........
But now I am not feeling Good at nokias behaviour like Not take android for His Ego and just going for windows mobiles which is not full support of many things

Nokia, please drop windows, develop Meego, keep symbian for low end machines, open another production line with Android and beat all with one clam shell designed phone like E90, I mean not sliding, and Mr. Elop, do you really work for Nokia or for others? Every Nokia Lover understands better than you the should be marketing policy of Nokia. You have no right to make it a looser as we love nokia.

He is going to sink Nokia for his EGO.
He could have saved these jobs and created many more if he had adopted Android. How come Samsung and HTC doing so well with Android.
I think the Finland govt. should step in. Nokia isn't going to be No. 1 ever and Nokia will be left to be just another brand.

Focus on a more select sector for marketing purposes may be a clever move if you're going through a tough time. However, this cannot be beneficial in the long term. Nokia is already a well positioned brand worldwide. If they start hiding from the spotlight and targeting only few people, they have the risk to end with a RIM like strategy, which has been sinking BlackBerry's image deeper and deeper.
Massification is commonly opposed to quality. But in terms of smartphones success is highly compromised with getting your brand known by everybody. It looks like Nokia is taking steps backwards on this matter. Luckily they could recover what they're about to sacrifice now due to financial cautiousness, but it's still a risky move in the long term, talking about brand development and positioning.

its all good and well to cut staff numbers if there are too many staff in the first place...
i think this sort of decision stinks of being driven by a desire to show a quick reduction in expendature and make earning and profit appear better than they would otherwise.
If Nokia is to once again regain its position in the top hansdet producers in the world, it needs to have more than enough staff to push R&D, production, support and PR in the right direction.... and making sharp cuts like this will probably end up hurting the company in the long run if it manages to regain its former position

rather than cutting job they should adopt android and train them on this platform to produce competitive phone, why cant they give up symbian for ever, it doesnt have any future

Wouldn't it affect the sales in the future? o.O It might be the best idea for now, but what five years later? Nokia is an established name, they just need more improvements in different sectors, then they can rise like they did in the 90s. I witnessed it, one of the Nokia fans, now I'm Samsung/Motorola/Apple. Sorry Nokia.
