Anonymous, 26 Mar 2012would you explain to me then... why the american army, gov... moreand let me point out that on the sources that you gave... there isn't even any mention about android being more secure. The sources are more like humours if not surveys. I think that came from you. for the army... they have their own software, satphones and private lines. and only federal agencies uses BB or any other Phones/OS aside from what they have.
BB's main turf is not w/ the government, it's w/ the business companies. Have you ever wonder why there isn't any GIS(Government Internet Solution OR AIS(Army Internet Solutions)? and from the las word of the two acronyms, the word SOLUTIONS is basically a business term. Comparatively THERE is a much more secure OS other than BB, and it's w/ the ARMY and the Government, But IT IS NOT android nor iOS.

Next time if someone asks you to back up your statements, then step up and back it up. Your juvenile insults add nothing to the conversation.

Anonymous, 26 Mar 2012would you explain to me then... why the american army, gov... moreTrue that The Government and the Army maybe switching from BB to Android. If that would be the case, it's just the the Government and the army then. comparing the size of their employees to the private sector that includes corporate, small and medium businesses and consumer businesses as well, they wouldn't even reach half the numbers. and mind you , if the army is switching to android, it is because of it's processing power and custumization capabilities. and pray tell me why CIA and FBI is not individually mentioned? I work on an australian Mobile carrier and my wife works w/ AT&T, 89% of the government accounts uses black berry and 9% uses iOS, 1% uses windows phone. and your just talking about the United STates of the God FR*akin America. android is far from being a business OS. iPhone CAN be in sometime ahead if they address the needs of the business world.

Hmmm.. unless everyone here has used every OS out there, no point in pointing out the flaws or greatness of all OS's. Android's OS, very nice, clean but what a hog on battery power. Apple OS, like android (except for the battery drain) hasn't changed its looks since its first generation iPhone. I don't care how many of you say its perfect and thats why they don't change it, if thats your response, you're as boring as your iPhone. BB at time was great. i had 3 blackberries. RIM, too small and too slow to keep up with the big boys. Unless BB10 AND their devices blow the socks off you, don't expect RIM to do much. They won't disappear, but they won't be a contender anymore. BB10 is their last chance.
Everyone should enjoy the competition, it pushes for GREAT OS' to be developed. Imagine if all 3 collaborated on one OS?? wouldn't that be something.

While the General Services Administration does not impose its purchasing decisions on other parts of the government, the terms and conditions it negotiates can be used as a blueprint for other agencies.

only 1% of Capitol Hill Staffer think BB as their next phone:

On Capitol Hill, where BlackBerrys were in the hands of 93 per cent of staffers in 2009, a significant majority – 77 per cent – still thumb the tiny keyboards.

                    Smartphones are rapidly catching up.

iPhone use was up to 41 per cent among Capitol Hill staffers this year; more than triple the level of three years ago.

The really grim news – at least for BlackBerry – is that less than one per cent of respondents said they planned to buy another BlackBerry.

whatchasay, 26 Mar 2012The army is thinking about android for the field because it... moreyou really love your Blackberry aren't you?
The REAL reason the army choose Android instead of Blackberry is BECAUSE.... BB is NOT real Smartphone. It's kind of TERMINAL in linux mode. It's a dumb terminal. Without the BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) and the server in blackberry HQ, the BB is a DUMB PHONE!!!

This is VERY dangerous in the field. BIS is well known for it's down time, problem, etc. If the army in the field have a combat, and blackberry having problem, they could die.

On the other hand, Android is THE REAL SMARTPHONE. They could use multiple source of internet (Wifi, 2G/3G, etc) and don't need the BIS or Blackberry server to be smart.

                      That's the REAL reason...

Thus they can limit the heck out of what the devices can and cannot do. Blackberry is still #1 on the govt. Why do you keep sticking "govt" in your sentences when referring to the army. They are not the same. Congressmen and their staffers need alot more cyber security than the guy on the battlefield. As a result, they overwhelmingly use BlackBerries.

With the issue of identity theft and privacy laws and what not, Blackberry is very useful in the corporate world. At the end of the day, Blackberry is still a very relevant company. The last thing a billion dollar company wants is losing valuable information, patents, secrets and information that companies deny ever happen so that their employees achieve higher score on Angry Birds or watch their YouTube videos of stupid cats or RWJ making his voice crack at 27 in a better screen.

Most geeks dont' see the B2B market, or the B2Government market, they see things we don't see for 5 and sometimes 10 years. The internet's been around since before most of us were born, let's remmeber that.
