Such a sad move. Reviews from device owners are critical to make a wise purchase decision. Even if there are rants among them, knowing one's frustration with the product is very helpful. Don't expect Apple's sales people to tell you about their own device's flaws and issues (especially since sales positions usually come with bonuses for each sale) or say anything bad about them.

Muting criticism is also a surefire way to cause the downfall of a company. How can you improve without knowing what's wrong?

kek, 22 Nov 2019Well, there goes any trust that was left on themcorrect. Apple is just a low end brand that can't even make their own displays. swelling batteries and malfunction is commonplace. In the costumer service section of most retailers in Oslo, there people with Apple products

Sure, apple is expensive and they lack the flexibility of android but their products are faster and have longer support which translates to better resale value. If you can't afford it, don't be jealous and spout that rich club nonsense

Of course, trolls and hate comments must be culled somehow, but it's also important for people to know strengths amd weaknesses of the products

I actually defend Apple for this decision.
It is the right decision to make for their company. Layman-People who want to know more about a product are better served (by Apple) by their staff, so that the staff could persuade them into a sale. Whereas general or enthusiast people who want more details will be visiting tech sites like GSMArena for that source of information. Most of the OEMs don't include or have removed their Reviews Section on their official websites and their YouTube channels. Remember it is a big hassle to moderate online trolls on those websites.

Amazing how Apple can try to cover up the fact that its products and services are very mediocre for the price you pay for them.

Buy them because you need to be 'in' with rich friends or buy them because you want to show people you belong to the upper echelons of society fortunate enough to earn in a month what most people earn in a year.

Everything else (that it's smoother, a better experience, worth the money, etc.) are really all placebo effect. Removing all user reviews because of bad reviews dominate won't change the fact Apple products are not worth the premium you pay for them, unless you're in it solely for the 'image' and 'prestige' a.k.a. 'status symbol'.

The k... moreThe trouble with the internet is accessibility for those with no idea to contribute to discussions and produce opinions that are difficult to separate from the more valid ones. As an example, if my partner were to write a review on some tech things, she could we'll post a review that would be laden with opinions that actually should not be weighted as heavily as one I would write. There is no reliable way to weight the opinions. That said, the removal of negative comments only by companies is awful. Panasonic did this with one of their TVs that I bought. There were several glaring faults that were widely known, but when mentioned on their websites, they culled them, leaving only the positive ones.

The trouble with reviews is that you know little about the reviewer. I look at some reviews for phones that are renowned for having poor battery or some other glaring issues, and the deluge of comments that contradict known issues tells me everything. Like the skewed bias that happens everywhere, I suppose, but still makes me cringe. Case in point, I worked for a company that was plagued by some highly negative reviews that were so far off, it was scary. I would have loved to responded and pointed out the flaws in their arguments, owing to their minute knowledge of the issues and challenges faced by staff, and the customers' lack of reality and real work expectations. Used to make me feel sorry for managers of football teams.

Disable comments and now removed reviews and ratings. The kind of message this deliver is that their product is bad. Hiding all the bad things to save their own reputation. They are well aware they have lots of haters and doing nothing to encounter that problem. They rather hide.
