Could have easily hit 10mill if the Note weren't just a 200Mhz faster, an albeit better and larger screened, larger batt S II with a stylus. This may be a hard fact to swallow but the bulk of early adopters were made out of mostly S II users disgusted with the fact that they'd have to fork out substantially for the orig 2000mAh batt kit that actually flattens out the back nicely...which makes you wonder why Samsung didn't just go with the larger batt in he 1st place.

I hope that there's Samsung people assigned to collect and lurk for user feedbacks here in GSMarena. The next Note (5.3" phablet one, not the 10.1 mind you) urgently requires an anted up build quality, best performing SoC design (dual or quad won't matter but the GPU doea), dual loudspeakers, a suitably paired batt of course and an elite dev team especially assigned to it.

This could and should have been more of a massive success if Samsung moves away from the mindset of treating it just like another unit in the S series line.

Why is it that in most Android posting, there was to be some stupid Apple Fanboy, you makes ridiculous accusations, without research, cant back them up and tries to prove that Apple is so much better, and what’s funny is that, when their comments get answered INTELLIGENTLY…. They are nowhere to be found. I’m just point out the obvious here: If you hate Android so much why the f*ck are you in here reading a posting that is CLEARLY for an Android device.

do you even know what a RESELLER means? Retailers BUY units from manufacturers, manufacturers SHIP units that Retailers BUY, Retailers RESELL the units that was SHIPS.

that's the best i can do to bring it down to a layman's term. i haven't even include PRE-ORDERED and DIRECT SALES.

Anonymous, 28 Mar 2012You actually have a good point! When 1 million Galaxy Note units were shipped last December, the same question was raised by Apple fans. People do buy them. It means demand for the Note has reached 5 million+ unit since its launch since late October to answer the market's need. Of course the actual sales differ, but the unsold are there since they have projected the demand.

Impressive numbers! Not the sort of phone i can really use (far to big for me) I noticed that alot of people are shouting about the screen size on the phone. Does no one remember the dell streak? Everyone said that was waaay to big.... but now everyone is in love with this phone. Just goes to show how fickle the phone market is really!

I use it all d... moreI am so glad you explained point 1) on the Samsung alarm to wake you up..I have been trying to explain it to my uncle and auntie in another country how it wakes you up with special effects 5 minutes before the main larm goes of.I say to them it wakes you up with an almost invisible sound for a while to gently bring you out of sleep and is another out of the box thing by Samsung..

Samsung also think out of the box with their Sonic Wellness app in D600/D900 phones and also Vivid messaging where words were replaced with symbols..Samsung also invented the emergency call by pressing 3 times on volume key to phone people in order to get help and also a tracker system for their mobile phones..I love Samsungs Concert Hall setting which is fantastic at creating a super spacious acoustic sound filed..

I used to have Samung ghetto blasters in ealy 90's late 80's and they always think out of the box and innovate..Same as slo-mo video recording in their mobile phones.

I look forward to SGS3 as Note is too big for me personnelly ..

Best phone I ever had, or seen, or used.

I use it all day for the following:

                      1) Alarm to wake up: I has this amazing smart alarm that can play, in low volume, birds singing, running waters etc so it slowly wakes you up 5 minutes before your main alarm goes off. It really works!

                      2) surfing the web for news while having breakfast

                      3) Music and audio book listening while driving to work

                      4) Note taking during meetings, checking emails, keeping my calendar in MS exchange up to date wherever I am.

                      5) VOIP extension of telephone PBX at work for when I am not in the office

                      6) GPS for when I need to go somewhere new. (very fast locking of satellites!) almost instantly after I turn it on

                      7) Bluetooth for file transfering, headset and headphones (Sound is Excellent)

                      8) watching movies on the great screen. It is so sharp and detailed that it feels like I am watching 3D

9)Keeping my shopping list always ready and up to date
                      with "out of milk"

                      10)Playing games

                      11)and what not

12)Oops I forgot actually using it as a phone. Contacts and dialer is excellent

All the above is excellent and easy to use with the Giant screen, the great audio and video quality and ease of use of the inteface. Not to forget the great accurate S-Pen.

If I ever change this phone, it will be 2-3 years from now with Galaxy Note 3, or whatever model will be out then. I just love this phone and since I got it, it has been a part of my life.

samsung is posting "shipped" units, because they make money for every unit they SHIP. A retailer makes a request - Sammy delivers and gets paid.
Apple sells a very large portion of their phones through their own distributing network and thus only gets cash if a customer buys the phone. hope that was simple enough :)

Anonymous, 28 Mar 20125 million units "shipped"... But how many were a... moreApple has its own private stores which r controlled by the company itself. So it has direct access to the stores computers which process the transaction n thus can tell how many units were actually sold. On the other hand, no android device has a private shop so its impossible to gain access to those computers. Any way that doesnt matter much. If the shipments r increasing every quater then its almost certain that all devices hav been sold otherwise the carriers wont order more wud they? So in such cases shipments nearly equal sales except for the few damaged phones.

Yes its true that this phone got a huge demand even in India. In Calcutta after launching it was very hard to find this phone in few popular shops Samsung dealers are asking price as per there own demand that time.
I got mine few weeks back Its a great phone but definitely hard to carry
