MediaTek’s new Dimensity 1000 chipset kills competitors at AnTuTu

26 November 2019
It tops the Snapdragon 855+ and even Apple's A13 Bionic with its overall score.

dude111, 26 Nov 2019Two big mistakes: 1) You are comparing v8 vs v7 on iPhon... moreNot only that, AnTuTu is for fanboys.
The concept of a benchmark is to test the performance in an objective way, but in a format that gives some meaningful, precise, and accurate data. Both Geekbench and AnTuTu have many problems, and independently cannot be relied upon to make an informed decision.

For a better benchmark just look at PCMark Work 2.0 and 3DMark 3.1 Extreme Unlimited.
Or for a more rounded figures, also have a look at GFXBench Aztec Ruins (Vulkan High Quality), BaseMark OS 2, SPEC int 17, JetStrem 2, AndroBench 5, and AI-Benchmark Pro 3.

Love the Community, 26 Nov 2019I hope HTC picks this up because they've been releasing pho... moreIt isn't the hardware that is killing HTC but yes the useless "innovations" and the big pricing put on each phone. HTC only sees profit and they don't know sometimes it's worth sacrificing some $$$ to gain trust and costumers.
      That's why they are sinking
OnePlus and Xiaomi are good examples of this, now they profit like crazy

That's kind of impressive but twhats the price of that soc? If it's higher than qualcomm's than i rather stay on qualcomm

I would be surprised if the SD865 doesn't top this, but if this is prices competitively enough it could be a key component in the budget flagship market.

                    1. Fake Score (Real score should be around ~200,000)
                    2. No GPS or very poor GPS (MediaTek chips have terrible to non-existent GPS)
                    3. Weak for gaming. MediaTek's GPU choices have *always* been substandard.
                    4. Used in cheap devices: Bluboo, HomTom, iNew, iOcean etc. Many of these are defunct.

No respectable phone maker would use a MediaTek SoC in a flagship, and in fact none does. They are mostly used for low-mid range devices (~$150 range). This should be no exception and be fitted in phones around the $150 mark for consumers who can live without GPS (or poorly performing GPS).

MC9 = multicore9 = 18 cores gpu, mostlikely in 600MHz range to keep it from melting, T version with 800MHz will streamrolled even sd 865 gaming performance if they put sort of active cooler with heatsink (think improved red magic)

Finally mediatek stop skimping out graphic, g90t is mid ranger with mc4 = 8 cores, kirin 980 is 10 gpu cores iirc

I still prefer qualcomm to be honest bur you guys shouldn't be hitting hard on mediatek. It is the 4th biggest semiconductor company and is responsible for bringing cheap product like amazon tablets. Plus, latest redmi note 8 pro already proves that "mediatek always overheats" is not even close to being true. Weirdly oneplus 7 line up is warmer than redmi note 8 pro but that could be on xiaomi's hand.

                                      Imagine the battery consumption

I wonder if this is Mediatek's genuine efforts to get their chips into some high end phones and actually be a competitor to Qualcomm?
It would be interesting if a genuine top end phone, let's say a OnePlus or Xiaomi flagship came out with a Mediatek.

I'll be honest, i'd be sceptical about it being as good as a Snapdragon at first, but it would be good to see some competition at the top end for chips.
