For ics 512 mb ram is not enough. Is that true?
According to my opinion ics will operate smoothly. HTC one v, nexus s has also same ram. but these are operate smoothly.
And one more thing that sony develop his own OS with some function missing but it works well as you can see in youtube. Get ready for smooth ics developed by Sony. Thanx for reading my comment.

AnonD-36731, 05 Apr 2012"it will halt the race for hardware improvement" ... moreI think what you mean is stepping to the wrong directions based on your standard. Before it was a race for the most compact and slimmest phone, now it's a race for processing power. Size vs. mobility? you can choose mobility to the expense of HD or amoled screen for video calling, gaming, movies and such. Browsing is not fun for most people on small screened phone. what google and the manufacturer is following, are consumer wants and needs. Bigger screens, powerful cores and a lot more.

and for the trending of size...it's not google... go talk to apple mate. first phone to arbor a wide screen and formfactor trending is the iPhone.

I see the new RAM management thing but that's all about a hierarchy of turning things off and freeing up space.

Verbal_Criminal, 04 Apr 2012 There will be no Android lite, Android is here to market ... more"it will halt the race for hardware improvement"
Actually the current hardware improvement is going in the wrong direction imo. Phones are faster now but they are much larger so it's not really a huge improvement because the mobility is being taken away. Of course a larger phone can fit faster more powerful parts, not much improvement in that. The manufacturers are getting consumers desensitised to accepting larger, less mobile and less convenient devices.

Google bringing out an OS that requires 340mb of reserved ram and faster processors just to run the OS is just another step in the wrong direction.

Maybe the future is that people will be choosing other OSs if they want a smaller phone with a reasonable battery life. Depends on what other smart phone options become available.

There will be no Android lite, Android is here to market multitasking and promote processing power.
Android was created to make use of new technologies on applied communications hardware. Creating a lite version is like creating a below standard version of the original. it will halt the race for hardware improvement. However, that course can still be explioted but not on the expense of the OS itself but thru innovating technologies that would be less costly but on par w/ the high end ones. I believe that 's what's HTC one V and samsung Galaxy pocket is trying to explore. Bringing down the droids to the less capable buyers but for the expense of some hardware candies.

Android os consume ram , cpu , gpu , ... alot that force mobile companies to use expensive parts (expensive phones for us) and also make a little free available resource for 3rd parts softwares.
I hope dear Google finally make a lite OS version and let other softwares breathing.
