Xiaomi probably feels that most budget buyers prefer a large battery/display. Their last small phone was the Redmi 6/6a which used relatively slow mediateks. I'm not sure if it was the small size or slow socs which was the cause of those models not selling well.

make it under 159mm & 6000mah
just like m30s of samsung
& not huge like note 8T, note 8 pro 162mm
not monster like redmi K30 with 165mm tall
you used 5300mah with 158mm tall in CC9 pro
so u can do it so easy to used 6000mah in under 159mm tall in redmi 9
of course using a-side mounted fingerprint of Redmi K30 in Redmi 9 will be intersting
so many people thinks Redmi 7 still its better & Redmi 8 was failed
so you need a mutation to get back to the game
for mention, no need to grow up camera segment or type of display in this series, even single cam its enought or HD, HD+ IPS, TFT screen its good
to keep the price low

Hopefully this upcoming SoC has better performance than S632. Otherwise, Redmi 7 still is the best choice.

Also, some regions absolutely have no ads. MIUI is not slow at all and gives long term updates even for their lower end phones. If you don't like MIUI, unlock the bootloader and install a custom ROM. Their dev support is amazing due to its popularity in India.

Those phones will be cheap with good specs and will sell like hotcakes then...wait they have preloaded adware in MIUI for Redmi phones. Adware will just steal some personal data and bothers you, even if you turn it off (you don't know what else is going on). It'll just potentially slow down the phone. Samsung is already doing a bad job with its UI, and I don't want Xiaomi to do so.
I will rather buy these phones at 10-15% more price but with no adware and kind of Mi user support hub (like Samsung Members).

Xiaomi, where is metal phones in Redmi lineup? Where is compact phones in Redmi lineup? Why every week new phone, same phone haha.. In the last half a year Redmi phones with ugly brand on front, Note 8t with 2x size bigger chin and frame to regular Note 8. Redmi 8, downgrade with 439, and thick plastic case.. Even K30 is downgrade compared to K20.. Wake up Xiaomi, you''re bot only one on the market.

6.6" with HD+ resolution? 250 ppi? it would look so horrible!
If it's going to have a FHD display, it would not be $90 anymore...
