I'm pretty sure both Huawei and Samsung will bring the secondary telephoto lens to fill the intermediate zoom range between the wide angle lens and the periscope telephoto lens. Especially Huawei, since they faced some criticisms over P30 Pro's lacklustre 3x - 4.9x zoom range.

35mm (~x1.5 zoom) with low aperture are the perfect spot for portraits in an actual camera world. I hope smartphones start looking for that implementation.

Now Ice Universe confirmed that S11+ will feature 48MP 5x optical zoom and P40 Pro will 16MP 10x. Next year Huawei will face the fierce competition in an area they had the most significant advantage over others.

Also Samsung might add their new tilt OIS system.

Furthermore it doesn't have to be a Quad Bayer sensor, a traditional Bayer 48 megapixel sensor would make more sense in my opinion. Many people don't understand that bright areas mainly have photon noise, which doesn't depend on the pixel size, if the sensor size is the same.
Due to the high megapixel count, the sensor will be large, which means that the image circle of the lens will be large, so it will capture more light in perfect light conditions than typical 50mm smartphone cameras. In low light conditions the image quality won't be better if they use a too high f number.

I would prefer Sony WH1000XM3 or Bose QC 35 ii due to better support for codec especially Sony with their LDAC which was already integrated with Android since Pie.

A good strategy from Samsung. Normally, telephotos have subpar quality and with pixel binning technology, images will come out more detailed than your typical 12mp camera.
Main camera: 108mp (pixel binned by combining 9 pixels) = 12mp
Telephoto camera: 48mp (pixel binned by combining 4 pixels) = 12mp

So S11+ might be the only one with 108 Mpix 1/1.3".
But this doesn't come from Ice Universe and I've only seen it in other discussion so we'll see.

OIS has a higher probability of mechanical failure though, I had two phones in a row exhibiting jittery motion in the stabilized camera and making a strange noise during viewfinding and/or focusing after a year or so of use.

So Samsung is going in for a bucket load of megapixels, huh?
Since we already know they're gonna use the 108 MPix Nonacell sensor, now we got the info it's probably gonna use 48 MPix, with Tetracell I assume, I think we can expect 64 MPix ultra-wide sensor, also with Tetracell. By standard this would allow to take 12 MPix wide, 12 MPix zoom and 16 MPix ultra-wide shots.
If it'll happen, S11 will be the king of megapixels.

Well, Xiaomi managed 1/2.55" 12MP f/2.0 2x, so a slightly larger 1/2“ 48MP...with say f.2.4 would certainly be within expectations, but if they could still manage f/2 on the 48MP, or better still make it a 3x, then it would be very impressive.

I just hope that it'll have a 3.5mm headphone jack. But with the new fad of new phones not having them, I'm gonna be disappointed, I know it.
