Try to see what happens if the models were restricted to the flagships only. Apple still sells more iPhones than any other OEMs sell flagships.

The S9 and S10 didn't sell as well.
Chinese OEMs only sell well because of the lower-end/mid-range/flagship killer phones. I have not seen phones like the Vivo NEX 3, Oppo Reno 10x zoom, Mate 30 Pro, or Mi 9 being used a lot in my experience.
Meanwhile iPhone XR and 11 sold a lot. Ignore iPhone X, XS, and 11 Pro.
It's either Samsung or Apple (flagship) phones I have seen a lot, even last-gens, because they already have some strong branding and reputation. You don't need numbers, just facts. So yeah

In my country a used P30 is 1/3 the price when new when S10 is still about 60%. Chinese OEMs are 50%. This trend also applies to most other countries and especially SE Asian countries.

Performance in ios is futureproofed for 3 years usage (which then you'll upgrade to a newer phone). In Android, this depends on what brand and model you're using. It is also nice that iPhone 6s can still be upgraded to ios 13, that's already an old thing. The update is also punctual. I had a Samsung Note FE in the past and the I received the Pie upgrade more than a month after the S10 series was launched. Not sure for other OEMs, but generally Android are not expected to last more than 3 years of usage.
If you think the iPhone is too expensive, they are the XS and 11 Pro. You can just get a base model XR or 11 and both cost cheaper than the Pixel 4 at launch.

Second of all, Apple did the iphone SE, remember that beauty? It has almost everything an Apple product should have and it cost around 400$.
Third of all, look at the Android so called flagship killers. They are incredible gadgets and they cost around 400$. So, it is possible to do it, don't worry.
But the problem with people like you is that you are so brainwash about this industry, that you actually think that a phone should cost 1000$. Probably, if phone manufacturers will start selling phones at 1200$ or even 1300$ would not be a problem either and you will find excuses for them again.
Kid, manufacturing cost are the same like 5 years ago with minor improvements. The only thing that change were their pockets and their greed. Now they are larger.

90% of the customers dont even know a single specification about the phone.
There is no need for stats or numbers, what's important is to own an iphone, dosent matter witch model.
Not only apple, but those who are buying android also.
Tech educated customer is a rarity.

Even apple's shares in Q1 and Q2 are fact as well.. Remember once there was a time when Apple always stands at no 2 in all market share but today they are not near to Huawei,, let alone Samsung.. Even in premium segment Apple usually had 60%-65% shares but today it decreased into 40%-50% and in near future they won't have 30% shares at least.. Take a screen shot of my comment .

Its sad seeing people(and I've saw many of them) getting the new iphone only because of the apple logo.

In past which was like 60%-70% but Don't worry they gonna lose their shares more in near future.. Jog counter back
