I'm not sure about other divisions but Sony Mobile is doing great. Their PR is VERY good and they always post updates regarding the upcoming ICS upgrade for the 2011 Xperia line. Just check their blog (http://blogs.sonymobile.com).

I think sony should focus on less saturated area on android phone.
For example, gaming-oriented smartphone. Create a smartphone similar to xplay, but with more competitive price, perhaps between $150 - $300. Even a single analog gamepad on a phone can make a big difference. Adding 1 or 2 feature from psvita would also be nice. :)
The other might be music-oriented smartphone. Sony could upgrade current live walkman phone. Stereo speaker, good bass, big screen, 5:1 channel output, hell I'm sure I'll buy it.

Its very sad to see Sony has become sick....once a major player in the market reduced to ashes......its going the Nokia way....

i suppose that when you are a mega star, (so Sony may think), they feel they can charge mega prices for their highend products and get away with it.

after my last (latest) sony product and the nightmare with their support I surely never ever will buy a sony product again for the rest of my life. sony were good in the 80s.

I stand corrected from my previous post.
The premium Sony LED LCD 65 inch TV here in Australia that sells for approx ten grand comes bundled with a home theatre in a box.
OK, knock off one grand by removing the home theatre component, and that still leaves approx nine grand to pay, an asking price Sony could have gotten away with five years ago or so.
Not today Sony.
The year is 2012, times are tough and the competition is intense.

Sony phones are the MOST competitive phones in th emarket place - Chines phones like Huawei are more expensive than Sony mobiles - look at the Xperia S EUR 240 , Xperia S 470 EUR which if compared to other phones with same features, they stongly compete ibeing lower in price BUT also with better specs in some cases.

I totally agree!
Sony should stop whacking customers premium prices for premium goods.
One good example, here in Australia, a Sony 65 inch Led Lcd TV sells for approx. ten grand, a Sharp premium 70 inch Led Lcd TV sells for approx 4.5 grand.
Both items imported. both items subjected to the same Australian Govt taxes.
So how do you figure out the sale price discrepancy??
I sure know what i would bloody well be buying.
