Sony should stop charging premium for its name and design. Otherwise their products will not be competitive on world market. Nowadays competition is too tough. Plus, Sony have to realize that customers do not associate their name with hi-end company anymore, like it was back in 70s and 80s. Market has changed a lot since then and today the only thing Sony can offer to attract customers - their great design. Being offered without any premium charges Sony style should have a decent demand.

Sincerely, I think that the PS3 strategy is (by far, really) the one to blame. Pricey console at launch (even though Sony said it was subsidized)expensive games, dull use of a the superb cell processor and firmware updates that destroyed key features (linux support anyone?).
Sony will lose in all fronts if they continue with this stupid corporate practices.

anderson, 09 Apr 2012Is this because PSN hack ? or ps3 piracy ? or low sales of ... moreI don't think that Sony's phones are overpriced...the Xperia S 32gb only costs about $500USD outright where as the 32gb iphone is $900USD now that is extremely OVERpriced, almost double!!
And I don't think there is a high end phone out there that isn't missing a feature or two..no phone is perfect and it depends on each person to decide what they need.

1 Cause is that they have not use gorill glass in there phone.
2 is Phone is over priced
3 is they think last & other lonched new one.
I am sony fan my last phone from sony were Xperia-10, I have no use sony phone, due to look same other than size, all the phone very plasticy

So... moreI've had more than 5 Sony Ericsson phones and they were the most reliable I've ever had. I always bought the phones with the worst comments and they were the best. I asked the people in the repair centres wich were the most reliable and they always said Sony.
Got the Xperia S yesterday and again, an amazing phone. I've had other brands which were award winning phones, high rated, but were dead after a few months.

This is because of after Sony had seperated from Ericsson and the total loss of 3.2 billion which is more and its the right decision .

I think Kazuo Hirai is a true Hero that will save Sony from continous financial losses and to get back the Sony old days when Sony sets on top of the entertainment technology business. It's better to make this cut and reviv Sony as a whole because if no 10K cuts today, it might lead to 150K cuts in the future !!!!!!!!!

As for their smartphone, I think it's overpriced, and their high-end model lack 'feature complete'. There's always 1 or 2 feature missing.

This cannot be in UK for one reason,,if you live in UK the stupid fatcat bosses get bonuses for loosing money here in UK..Oh yes if you are a CEO in UK and lose billions for your company you get a big bonus..Its always sad to see huge loses in jobs but thats todays climate , we can only hope that USA goes bankrupt for causing the rest of the world all this distress.

People here should stop trying to relate this to Sony Ericsson - this is nothing to do with the phone business.
In fact, I always thought it was a bad idea for Sony to but out Sony Ericsson as Sony were in a much worse financial position than Ericsson. Ericsson should have bought out Sony Ericsson!!!
