If it's made by the likes of Xiaomi, they'll sell it way less than that. Google's phone philosophy is similar to Apple so that's how I guess the price. But hey, it has great camera and a headphone jack. It's already enough.

Please please let this be SD765G. I don't care if this midrange will cost around flagship territory of $500 but Google should at least use the latest and the strongest processors. 765G is the strongest midrange chip.
