After so many years with the same OS it just becomes boring and I am thinking of switching to iOS just for something different to try. I haven't used an iPhone since iOS 6 so I would assume a lot has changed since then!

They just need to improve the design (good bye notch and smaller bezels) give more internal storage, and keep the 720p display only for the SE2. Speed, camera, speakers, updates, battery water protection and build quality are all excellent at this point. I'd like to try the 12 or 12 pro as my first iPhone next year. After using many Android phones from different brands it becomes boring.

Wider side bezels = harder one-handed usability.
My bro's J5 2017 has the same screen width as the 11 and XR but is 4mm narrower.

They give people enough every year so they keep buying. This year battery and camera were enough, next year it will be the design, the display and a little more camera...it seems more than enough for the majority so why change it? The goal of every company is to make money and they are doing it right.

I don't know why such patents are registered. Maybe if someone someday make a phone without notch and hole, Apple will pretend they've invented the design and will require 90% from the profit from those poor bastards, which were stupid enough to make no notch screen.

iPhones are among the latest smartphones with the thickest bezels. The design is from 2017 and even back then they fell behind in screen to body ratio. While other manufacturers have evolved their designs, Apple still is at the same level. They are falling far behind. It is not that I find the design ugly, they just fall short, immensely.
