You can argue whether it's useful or not, but you can't argue that it's innovative nonetheless.
I for one like it when companies try something new & different, even if it's a gimmick. They're better than those companies who keep rehashing their products with generic & predictable upgrades year after year.

That electrochromic glass may sound like a gimmick on smartphones, but it is definitely useful for laptop webcams. Think about it, that electrochromic glass will close the webcam from getting hacked by hackers and yes, getting your information hacked just from the webcam is indeed possible.
