Anonymous, 14 Jan 20203x optical zoom and 30x hybrid for these expensive phones i... moreIf you need that much zoom you need a real camera. But most likely scenario is that you will use that kind of zoom 10 times a year, first 9 times when the first day you buy the phone and one other time when you actually need it for something.

IMX 374 is the selfie camera.
IMX 555 is a 102mp sensor but is too huge to fit into a smartphone according to Wikipedia.
                S5kGW2 might be the Ultrawide.
S5k2la might be the telephoto unit.

Anonymous, 14 Jan 20203x optical zoom and 30x hybrid for these expensive phones i... more30x, 50x, etc mean nothing. Every smartphone company could give you 1000x zoom, nothing else than an upscaled crop. The quality is the important factor. And don't fall for the marketing tricks "5x optical zoom", etc. No phone on the market has a camera that is equivalent to a 5x optical zoom setting. Optical zoom means that the resolution stays constant, otherwise digital zoom could be called optical zoom. Huawei's 8 megapixel 4.6x camera is equivalent to the details of a 12.2 megapixel 4.05x camera. An 8 megapixel 3x camera is equivalent to the details of a 12.2 megapixel 2.45x camera. Furthermore a real 2x optical zoom setting means that the physical focal length is twice as large. No phone on the market offers this, when compared to the main camera. The specs are full of marketing tricks. By the way, "hybrid zoom" is basically nothing else than digital zoom from the tele camera. It's a marketing term. There are only a few phones where "hybrid zoom" was really different to digital zoom, for example the Huawei P10 Plus due to the monochrome camera. But the Huawei P30 Pro doesn't really give you more details at 10x than at 5x. Many sample images confirmed that, gsmarena confirmed that, too. Some phones (Pixel 3) combine more frames when you zoom, but this just improves the noise performance, it has nearly no advantage in perfect light conditions when you compare the result with a single exposure dng file in perfect light conditions.

It will output 12mp using 9to1 pixel binning.

                          Sensors may be right.
But the 8K os totally fake.
With 12MP you cannot even record 5K.
                          8K means 32MP.

3x optical zoom and 30x hybrid for these expensive phones is a poor result. Competitors already have 5X optical and 50x-60x hybrid ones with even improvements in the upcoming phones like the P40 Pro and others in the MWC 2020 next month. Who knows if one of those could achieve 80x - 100x soon.

Less maybe the most expensive one with some extra tweaking or extra custom sensor. They'll be even worse than the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 mid-ranger that is also more rich in features costing half of the price of these ones...
