oujisan, 17 Apr 2012here i thought chipsets like the tegra 3 were going to kill... moreI hope you understand that a arm core is not equivalent to a x64 core. Even if it has 100 arm cores and 40Ghz, its not the same as a server or PC.
For your information, there are more than 2000 cores on a GPU. The number of cores and frequency is not an indication of processing power.

oujisan, 17 Apr 2012here i thought chipsets like the tegra 3 were going to kill... moreQuad Core A-15 at 2GHz, that is going to be one hell of a chip. Will probably be coupled with 2GB of RAM.

The hardware is flying, in couple of years, your phone could really replace your PC, if they manage to adapt the software properly.

Imagine having a phone, come home, dock it, the dock has a mouse/keyboard and a monitor connected to it, once it's docked a full desktop OS opens up with everything saved as you left it. Leaving somewhere? Grab the phone, the desktop OS freezes, mobile OS instantly kicks in with everything, again, the way it was... bam!

oujisan, 17 Apr 2012here i thought chipsets like the tegra 3 were going to kill... moreIt took me a while to understand processor technology, but trust me, it's not all as simple as you think. Future handsets, Nokia included (for windows phone 8) will need dual core ARM or S4 Krait chips as part of their architecture to handle intensive use of apps via multitasking, high resolution screens and graphic intense gaming which will mean a need to boost RAM too. Running these smoothly will mean a need for beefed up processors to meet future market demand.

My god man when will it stop.. at 4Ghz? 12 core?

I dont think I need my phone to run a entire server one day... just run smoothly

                          Yes, Finally!!!
The problem with Cortex a15 is its power consumption is really high compared to A9 which makes A9 better since its good combination of power and battery life. Snapdragon S4 is better in terms of power consumption and uses some A15 features but its gpu is weak.
Now this a15 quad with good battery life and samsung's own gpu will make it a a perfect and future-proof soc!!

That's what they say but when they release the devices battery life is the same.

Om Nom, 17 Apr 2012I think this could be the new proc for the new iphone, or I... moreDefinitely not the processor for the IPhone 5, it looks likely that when the Galaxy S3 gets a mid life refresh come Q3/4, we'll see the A15 Chip inside of it but my bets are on the Galaxy Note 2 being the most likely candidate and for both international and US versions.

1 GHz Cortex-A8 was in iPad 1 and in iphone 4
