Apple makes so much money because out of USA you often find iphones for more than $1100. Even the simpler model.

- $1500 phone that has 1080p screen
- it does not record 4K HDR, despite CPU being able
- main cam does HD 60fps, instead of 120 (according their website)
- Lightning is much slower than usb C. Also the cable is as fragile as paper.
- 6.1" phone that costs $700 with HD screen. When screen is bigger than 8+.
- ipad 6 (2018) with cpu from 2016, rear cam from 2013 and obscene 1.2MP front cam for facetime.
- modem Intel much weaker and slower than Qualcomm's
- Previous iphones had gorilla 6, the latest do not. Not even glass from Corning.
Go to reddit and read comements of iphones users that say their batteries already lost more than 10% within 1 year.
Should I remember bending issues of 6+ and ipad pro?

So... GSMARENA completely gave up on the "iPhone SE 2" moniker or what? I'm still keeping fingers crossed for "iPhone SE 2" because "iPhone 9" is borderline idiotic name.

And if you are talking just about iPhones, the gross profit margin is around 67% and after deducting R&D, logistics, distribution, marketing, etc., the net profit margin for an iPhone is 37.97%. Which is a pretty normal and healthy percentage used by most products/industries out there.

So no, the phones are cheaper because their hardware cost a lot less of what Apple ask and charge to their iShe*ps. Even adding the cost of marketing. Some use ads to compete and offer even lower prices. But those that don't do that, a lot of them in Android, are also cheaper than Apple offering more.
But you can keep preaching your bliblia and dogmas. That will not cover the truth.

If you want to complain about outdated design, just look at the latest iPhone 11/11 Pro, the notch makes them look like 2 year-old phones despite the superior build quality and software.

But continue d... moreApple manufacturing quality is vastly superior to any other brand out there, be it laptops, smartphones, smart watches, tablets, etc. They don't cut corners like everyone else does, that's why they're more expensive.
Besides this, Apple products don't come with bloatware and they are not subsidised through ads and marketing tracking services like, say, android phones do. Android phones are cheap because companies get the rest of the money they need through ads and user monitoring.

I agree. A phone in 2020 with large forehead to survive in 2023/5 would hurt the reputation of Apple. Just because, people will buy low cost iPhone to stay in ecosystem, doesn't mean, a company like Apple should through them a product of the long past. Or, they should release two version of it: touch id based iphone 8 copycat (se 2) and bezel-less XR mini (iphone 9).

If they plan to release the phone at £400 then you can be sure it will not have Face ID. I suppose I will buy it though, as I hate large phones.

But continue dreaming if you believe that they are going to release it under 400. Of course it'll come with near 720p LCD display that will cost you around $750. As usual, Apple will sell you an SoC with some cheap parts and glue everywhere that they had in their old stock.

Facts: A realatively small phone for people who like the form factor - check (Original iphone SE was selling like crazy) A very capable camera - check. Flagship grade performance - check. Probable IP rating - check. Probably for less than 400 bucks - check. Iphone updates for at least 5 years - check. Show me an Android phone with all these qualities and you won't find one. Guaranteed.
