It is one thing the modem supports all bands, it is another thing the hardware manufacturer actually support all the bands. Just look at 4G phones. I'm right now opening realme x50 5g spec page and I see that it supports band 1, 41, 78, 79. I also just read that samsung s20 will support band 2, 5, 41, 66, 71. That is probably only 1 band that will be usable my country form the possible 3 to 4 bands that we will use. So now you tell me why I shouldn't worry about bands when the proof is right there to see.

I'm not really interested in 5G at the moment. I use AT&T in the US, and they're deploying the mmW and also the sub-6GHz versions. The sub-6GHz is available in my area, but it's likely still to be spotty and take at least another good year or two to make it outside major cities. I remember it took LTE a good while to be ubiquitous.
I have yet to see a killer app for 5G that makes me have to say OK, I have to have this. LTE was a big step up in speed from 3G, so the use was obvious. I could have decent speeds that were almost homelike while I was on the road. While 5G promises that as well, tech is either more geographically limited or doesn't offer a significant upgrade over what I have right now.
I'll get it if I'm forced to, but at the moment, if there's a 4G and a 5G version of the phone I want, and there's a significant price difference - say $100, I'll likely pass on the 5G version at this point. In a year or two - who knows? I don't see it was worth the money currently.

Rurouni, 27 Jan 2020Personally I think that 5G is not worth it in my country, a... moreGo watch the Snapdragon summit held last November, the Snapdragon 865 support all world bands when it comes to connectivity whether it's 3G,4G or 5G... that's part of the reason the X55 moden is separate from the main SD865 chipset...in 5G it supports everything from sub 6,mmWave, you name it...everything is supported so no worries about which bands.

Also an additional thing to supplement my earlier post. If I bought K30 5G now, it would be practically useless for me since it supported 5G in 2500, 28GHz, and 35GHz while my country is planning on using 700 and or 800, 2600 and or 3500, 26GHz. This is not final and might change. And is in my post before (assuming it will be posted), The carrier that I utilize an extra band because their previous bands are already crowded. The band that they use is not compatible with my Mi6 phones. So while I still can get 4G with Mi6, the coverage is more limited or the quality is not as good as a phone that support that extra band.

Personally I think that 5G is not worth it in my country, and 5G phone for future proofing is absolutely not a wise decision. The thing is, if you want 5G for future proofing, that means your country doesn't have 5G, or still in testing phase, or only being deployed in a small area. This means that you probably don't know what bands that your phone company will use. This can lead to unused 5G feature in the future where your phone can do 5G but not compatible with the bands. For example, I have an LG phone with 4G when 4G was still in testing phase in my country. Ended up can't use 4G. I also have Mi6 phone which supports many 4G bands but unfortunately lacking 1 bands that is being used with my carrier. While it does support some, it still ended up with me having less 4G coverage. That is why I believe you only buy 5G phone if you know which band that your country/carrier will use, otherwise don't try to think having 5G will make It future proof.

The problem with this 5G technology is that companies will take advantage of the situation and demand increase prices for their phones.
Of course, people will appear now and say, "Oooh, but this is the way technology evolves, ok boomer, the future is now old man", etc.
But I ask you in how many areas do you think you will receive 5G? Even now, there are a lot of places outside big cities where the signal is even weaker than 4G (I leave in Europe by the way).
So, 5G will be a thing, but it will take years to implemented at a larger scale. But, companies will nevertheless charge you extra money for phones, beginning from 2020.

What will really improve for the user with 5G compared to 4G, download speed will be almost the same unless you stand right next to the 5G antenna, and all the webpages and Netflix... movies will look the same regardless if the phone have 5G or 4G?

People like you, much like us removable battery fans, are just a minority.
Even 3G is still enough for basic smartphone usage and so will 4G.
Cheapo 5G ones will come because these makers have moved to quick refresh cycles so no point in overspending now.

I live in a small and very advanced country where three separate 5G networks by 3 different operators are being built. My city is one of the first ones. I've been able to get a 5G contract, service and a phone now for months.
Why would I buy one? I get spotty coverage, very bad reception due to 5G signal being so easily blocked and constant switching from 4G to 5G (and back) with reduced battery life and barely any faster speeds (unless I'm standing still near a base station).
Just like with 4G, I will wait 2 years for the prices of contracts and phones to normalize and for the coverage to become larger and bugs to be ironed out.
I regularly get 200+MBit/s here with 4G+ ( which is plenty fast).

NTT successfully create the 6G chipset under laboratory environment.

5G is the way forward. 4.75G which I am currently using is still just not quick enough. I would like to be able to download a movie in a few seconds. Instead of minutes.
Besides? Why on earth do you want to be stuck on 4G? Oh I get it... Just invested in an iPhone 11 pro max with 60hz screen. No 5G... And thought you where planning on keeping it for 5 years...
What do you want? A pension and a Zimmer frame too?

Your monthly bill would be cheaper. Besides. UK carriers tend to have a very limited choice of phones compared to Asia. Asia have by far the best phones. And most flagships never reach the UK.
But are way better than any apple device or even Samsung.
