AnonD-762416, 26 Jan 2020They were nice, but there's no mention of the glitchy pocke... moreactually it's Nokia that put Sony Ericsson to a rest.
the moment Sony Ericsson revealed its Walkman-branded and CyberShot-branded phones, Nokia released its N-series phones,
the N-series were all-in-one smartphones, good camera, good music player, etc, all in one packages. so you don't need to buy separate gadgets to do all those stuffs.
that proved to be popular with users and made Sony Ericsson (and some other phone manufacturers) went down hill since then.

They were nice, but there's no mention of the glitchy pocket lint magnet of a connector. That's relevant today when all mobile brands forces users though the same nuisance with the USB-C and lightning connector headphones.
I had a few K700's and the W810. Then AMOLED arrived on mobile and the SonyEricssons were history.

Sony phones are still jewels in the tech world. Just not popular due to marketing failure and cheaper China brands

I owned both the W800 and W900, absolutely loved them. The W900 was amongst the first phones to have a separate GPU from the CPU and brought QVGA@30FPS video recording. Although Nokia absolutely smashed all of these with the massive Nokia N93 and it’s “dvd quality” VGA@30FPS video and far more powerful GPU.

What a great time to be a mobile enthusiast that was.

The W900 swivel design was impressively durable, I really abused that phone and it took it without a problem. W900 also had one of the largest internal memories at the time at 470mb, so when I loaded my 512MB Mel stick I was close to 1GB, that was a HUGE amount of storage back then, the W900 was a hardware powerhouse for a feature phone, it could have easily been loaded with Symbian S60 if Sony Ericsson had pushed the budget for it as it certainly had the hardware of a smartphone. Camera on W800 and W900 was fantastic to, same as the one in the K750i.

The W800 on the other hand was a great little phone, good battery life, and a neat little package of a device, I was 15 or 16 when I got it, it was the perfect gift, I kept it loaded with music and music videos, unfortunately it was stolen after about 7 months and that’s when I got my W900 upgrade. I remember using Opera Mini a lot on these phones, it was my go to browser and I often read GSMArena reviews using Opera Mini in those devices.

They can pull a media phone anytime... And it will rock the s#it out of everything out there.... But people around here don't deserve SONY. Too much hate for it! In the CrApple era where everything is default and ready to use...you cannnot succeed... Give apple users a music player with an equaliser aside.... They'll call it crap.... And the same comes in the camera department... starting with dxomark and going to the end user.... Nobody give a sweat to achieve.... Everyone expects " shot and process"-Dslr quality... Work your brain a bit... Why call a phone smart when you are not...?

There where special drivers available for these phones you could flash it to increase loudness of the speaker , change camera u.i and so on. Loudness out of speaker was considered a vital purchasing factor those days

K750i - My first personal phone. I still remember the days when I flashed it into a W800i. Good days - patches, elfs, acoustics - I think that was a key part of my life because that's the moment I began interested in programming. Thank you Sony Ericsson for these great phones.

Btw, you should have mentioned D750 which was yet another variation of k750 and w800. At one point in the past, I and two other friends had the 3 models... Good old times.

No matter the variation however, it was a great performer for its time, if you don't mind the lack of OS of course and the relatively low-res screen (Nokia had a slightly better ppi in their phones due to the 240x320 resolution that was pretty much standard, while SE was using 176x220).

Back in 2005 when this phone came out, most of us had loads of music on our computers, ripped off of CDs, or downloaded via torrents, eMule and the likes. Also, you certainly didn't need any proprietary software to load the music onto the Sony Ericsson phones — you could either copy it directly onto the Memory Stick via a card reader, hook the phone onto the computer and copy/paste it in the file explorer (it wasn't mass storage, so drivers were needed), or just transfer the songs via bluetooth/infrared.
At that time, I don't remember anyone even remotely caring about online music stores and proprietary software; we'd need none of that.

Had a great time using the k750, a solid phone with pretty good camera and overall user friendly, i remember using it for quite a few years until i switched to xperia ion, another solid phone with a sexy mate red aluminum finish. Good old days for Sony, after that switched to xiaomi, starting with mi3 and all the way to my current mi8, sony lost their flavor and it's hard to get it back

When sony was good at phones.

I want a feature phone with a good camera, good music playback and good battery life.

If there are more people like me, Sony could make good phone for us. I am not a smartphone type person.

The times are different now. Good branding alone it's not enough. Sony must introduced value for money mid-range devices. With Good chip ( 765G - 730, sd card, dedicated slot for SD Card, huge battery, good softaware for the cameras and more affordable price, because competition is tough)

                                      64 MP stick?. Lol

                                        - I never had w800 , in Transylvania Sony Ericsson give us to late this phone and never get with free over the ear headphones only some people from Orange gut them , because of luck of care for the customers and brands name Sony Ericsson it is today where should be.
                                        - w800 and k750 was all most impossible to buy, I know a lot of people that have the money to buy them but never find the phones
-- we get instead w810i and K850i ... if the phones has mini USB to power it up i know i will still have them today
                                        - can you please make more articles about old phones? Even YouTube videos??? , will be nice to share memories with friends!
