And out of those 30%, 29% have iphone 7, 8 or XR. Seriously, I don't know a single person who has any iphone above iphone x. Hell, out of all my friends and co-workers, all the iphone users still have iphone se, 7 or 8 and the only person with iphone x is my gf, which is pretty indicative of the bulk of iphone sales, so you can draw your own conclusion and whether these "shipments" actually equate to sales.

Anonymous, 30 Jan 2020Whaaaat? thanks to lack of GMS they can't even sell their p... moreYeah, Huawei's numbers are extremely impressive. If Apple was forced to sell iphones without the App Store, their sales would plummet way more than 7%.
But it's also impressive how Apple have shown close to zero innovation since Steve Jobs' passing and are still selling this well.
Anyway, that's only if you divide the smartphone market into separate companies. Taken together though, 86% of the consumers went for an Android phone last year, which is telling the real story. Apple really lost the smartphone wars with their pricing and stagnation. For reference, after the release of the first iphone they completely dominated the new smartphone market and were selling more iphones than all Android manufacturers combined. Now they are selling several times less and the only reason their profit is rising is because the iphones are getting more and more expensive.

toukale, 30 Jan 2020I still find it surprising Apple can sell that many devices... moreIt is all cheap iPhone 11 not the expensive editions which are going like hot cakes....noticeably Apple cannot increase prices and expect huge sales. All hot selling products iOS or Android, only the cheaper editions (SE, ring a bell). Don't get worked up with Apple's earnings which it has diversified across products, services and licenses etc...iPhones will sell ONLY when it is cheaper. Next edition will be very expensive with 5G, 120 hz etc...which will bring back its sales volume down like in the past years. Also, Apple sales is based on previous year's figures where it was lowest....So there are lots of angles to these numbers.

pro and pro max totaled 30. So that guy is correct. 70 percent of apple sales are older iphones or the cheapest newer model

If Huawei were to price their devices 1:1 as Apple, I doubt they would move anywhere near their current numbers. Their ASP tells the whole story of which devices they sell the most, we can all tell its not their high end ones.

Apple can't really lose. They have unique product in the market and aren't affected by what happening with other OEMs. Apple have iOS and everyone else is fighting over android.

This isn't true, Top 3 selling iPhones last q were 11/11 Pro/11 Pro Max. Cook said that when they announced their q results. You can also check this from the ASP. if old iPhones are the ones which sells better it would lower Apple ASP a lot.
