The European Parliament votes in favor of a common charger despite Apple's protests

31 January 2020
One way to reduce e-waste is to stop bundling new chargers with new phones, but promote a single standard that works with phones of all brands.

For one side, I agree that Apple should join the common port type thing.

On the other hand, I don't think every single thing should move to USB-C. I mean, in most cellphones, you use USB-C just for charging. I have yet to see someone using USB-C to HDMI to connect their cellphone to a TV or something like that.

So, microusb and USB-C should be the standard.

Remember: it's all about the charger (brick) not the cable connecting the charger to the phone. Apple is already selling Lightning to USB-C cable and has USB-C chargers available.
