On a global level, OnePlus and other Chinese brands have gained marketshare while Sony, LG and HTC are losing marketshare.

I've had a multitude of manafacturers smartphones but always end up coming back to Sony why I don't know I like Sony I guess it's there different design language and currently have Sony Xperia 1 and it's brilliant.

They probably c... moreOnePlus has been just dropped by Tmobile due to super weak sales despite OnePlus spending tens of millions of dollars in US marketing alone to launch the device. OnePlus could never make it as real independent company, just like other Chinese brands they are pretty much state owned or have access to state money due to people behind it being in government or very close to government. It's not the same game at all.

They probably cost 50-100 dollars less than Samsung, Huawei and Apple flagships.
Difference is the profit margin, Samsung, Apple etc charge more than twice the amount. While budget flagships from Xiaomi, Asus, OnePlus have traditionally made very few profit by selling them between 400-600 dollars. But they gained marketshare and now they are a well known brand and ppl preferring those flagships instead of spending 800 dollars on Sony.

Hoping for a Sony revival. I have the S9 and still waiting for 10. Touch issues and buggy overall. My Z1 battery still holding a charge my S6 doesn't. Would rather have bezels than the crappy S9 software.

I hope they do because Sony can kill them all if they use all their potential and buy or acquire certain companies that could strategically benefit their phones.

The mate 30 pro ships with zero American parts meaning the arm chips in the Kirin 990 are indeed less than 25% American so I doubt much is going to change with chipsets lol but nice thinking

I had Sony Ericsson W810i (best mobile I ever had), I had Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V and I had Sony Xperia X Compact (second best mobile I ever had). Now I have a Pixel4 only because Sony has stopped making mobiles in reasonable size and I already have a tablet.

Now If Sony starts offering it at under 600 dollars like other Chinese manufacturers have, then it can make a few sales.
Realme, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Asus all are improving market share coz of flagships offered at cheaper prices. Sony has to do that or suffer the same feat as LG and HTC.

The only reason for Sony's so called success (temporary for sure though) in smartphone business right now is Huawei ban and stupidity / greed of Google.
