Weekly poll: is the Poco X2 the phone you were hoping for?

09 February 2020
It's not quite a flagship killer without a top-tier chipset, but the screen, camera and battery are hard to top in its price range.

My only gripe with this phone (and most of smartphones these days) is that it has a borderline high SAR rating enough to cook an egg, something no reviewer ever talks about.

Anonymous, 10 Feb 2020Looks awesome but I prefer Nokia 9.2 And one is lower midrange phone while the other is a flagship...

My issue with Poco X2 is it basically just a rebrand K30! I mean at the time the cheapest SD845 phone was Xiaomi Mi8 but Poco F1 launch with flagship chipset and plastic (a bit ugly) body in order to cut price and cheaper than Mi8. Fan still love it because it show Poco really try to make cheap flagship, and they do not care about the design at all. But this X2 goes complete against what they achieved with F1.

This X2 is not successor to F1 but if they make an effort instead of just rebranding it, people wont be too mad (I think). SD730 is fine, they could have midrange line for anyone who don't need flagship chip so its a good strategy. Now, I bet you Poco F2 will just be another rebranded K30 Pro

            NeverSm1le, 10 Feb 2020865 is expensive af ($100+), so if a Poco comes with a 865,... moreno we wouldn't!
most of the people understands if the processor is expensive, then phone will be too.
this X2 phone is completely fail but really, in every way!
its a weak SoC, too expensive, design-wise - disaster because there is no new design, and so on....
without xiaomi backup they would bankrupt for sure because of this "X2 decision".

It would have been better if it had a 765G, rather than 730G.

865 is expensive af ($100+), so if a Poco comes with a 865, y'all would be bitching about its price.

I will never understand why customers would want a brilliant camera but a half baked SOC in their phone. And I know there is mid-range phone loving people out there! But talking midrange: give a phone 90hz and triple cam, single front cam but a 865 would still be enough to hit the competition badly. With a 730g - those 120hz look lost.

poco x2 isn’t a “great phone for its price”
ppl can go for poco f1 under this range of price with better specs.
i would personaly not compromise chipset for better display or camera.

They should have used Snapdragon 865 anyway

                        expensive for Snapdragon 730G
                        should have used Snapdragon 765G

Is there an option to keep the refresh rate locked at 60hz? If there is, then performance should not be an issue.

In any case, most games are locked at 30 or 60 fps. 60 FPS is more than enough for any game, including fighting games that require fast reactions and minimal input lag.

If the screen is amoled and processor 765 is ok but now no

John, 09 Feb 2020Nice tablet. Where is the phone?I see the phone, where's the tablet?

"Still, the screen is bright and offers excellent color accuracy (with HDR support). At this price range, it's hard to beat." Oh I know what can beat it. The screen on it's predecessor, (well technically the K30's it's just that this is a rebranded K30) the Redmi K20.

These xiaomi phones mostly does not HD support fro netflix or any movie streaming apps. All are stuck at 480p. Looks like watching from a 3 inch phone

Indian crowd would always complain about any phone. This is awesome phone for the price though like any phone(including flagships) there are compromises.

I have S10 and that has issues with battery, camera could be better etc. That said its still a very good phone.

X2 has much better screen than F1, 1st time a phone has 120hz refresh rate at this price segment, good primary camera and good soc/memory/storage for the price.

I am sure F2 would release with flagship SOC but that will have its own compromises.

I will find some day older flagship phone.

it looks like f2 may not happen at all. in an interview, a poco executive said that the reason they were able to come out with the f1 in 2018 was because the sd845 has depreciated in price a few months after it was launched. this has not happened with last year's sd855 and it even costs 50% more than the sd845 at launch; no price cut happened even as the sd855+ was introduced later last year. this year, sd865 is again 50% more expensive than sd855, or 100% more than the sd845, so the said executive said it will not be cost effective for them to make an f2 at the same cost as the f1. then there is also that 5G modem in-built into the sd865; as announced poco will for the meantime be catering only to the indian market, and 5G is not available yet in india- this fact negates their tagline “Everything you need, nothing you don't”.
