Looks like a make up box, no thank you.

Whackcar, 17 Feb 2020After seeing this whole debate. I've learnt one thing. Peop... moreTo be fair, I still wouldn't say they were straight up lying about the use of UTG, but Samsung definitely could've explained the way it is implemented better to avoid confusion of general public. The way they advertised this new material definitely gave people an impression that it's used on the outermost layer hence the display is resistant to scratches just like a regular glass panel.

However, one of the descriptions they wrote on their website - that "it sets you up for an epic view with a SMOOTH FLAT screen" - is a false advertisement. Since the display is covered by a protective film, if it feels smoother then that's due to the change in coating applied to the film, not because it's using glass. And it shows more crease than the polymer screen of Galaxy Fold so it's certainly not flat either.

That is what makes it a game changer compared to any repetitive candy bar "flagship" on the market. The fact that it isn't silica-based glass has been obvious since Corning demonstrated how poorly glass bends in, every demo they've ever made of gorilla glass.

This phone's screen isn't made of Glass as Samsung claimed, period

It's the exact same plastic crap as on both Fold and RAZR 2019.
And stop sayin' this is a plastic protection film, this is the screen, period.

What's the point of a 1500$ phone with a screen you can scratch with your fingernails ?

Add that to the fact that it has last year chipset, none of the S20 series camera upgrades, no QHD or 120hz display, and you end up with a phone that's nothing more that a fashion accessory.

Jeez that's just the compowder from the Totally Spies, deal with it.

He's the liar who's previously faked scratch tests to get attention and page clicks, now he's doing it again by acting shocked with the Z Flip.

I keep saying that the US puts politricks over reason on the Huawei debacle. Don't call me biased please because it's obvious that you don't know me or my history. You can keep your personal attacks to yourself if you can't have a reasonable conversation with actual facts as your behaviour is toxic and unhelpful.

Anyway, it was proved that there's glass underneath a protective glass film. So I was right.

NotAnOpinion, 17 Feb 2020Reviewers claims it "feels" better in the hand compared to ... moreEven JRE made it clear that this is the most durable folding phone, so what that guy said stands.
Technically, there's glass beneath the plastic so they're not lying saying that it's a glass screen(it's a "glass screen with mandatory plastic protection" to be exact), and I reckon there is a technical advantage like better pressure resistance, you just need quantified testing tools, not hand scratching with a pick.
In practical terms, Samsung will apply special protection films to this model for free with specialized tools, unlike the Fold or others that did not allow external protection films, so there's little relevance.

After seeing the whole UTG debate I think its possible that Samsung did the Apple way like Apple claims its iPhone have sapphire lens but its actually the a mix of glass and sapphire so probably the same thing is going here and as for Z Flip does flex mode on camera only works with front camera or does it work with back ones too and how hard it is too open the phone with thumb?

if you have money and want to flaunt the style buy it. i will buy when realme makes one

                                  Is UTG a joke?? !!

Can samsung address this, even a hard press on is causing marks on the screen. Sheer disappointment

Z Flip clearly is better than the Razr but I'm getting neither. The Z Flip design still looks generic. Not spending over a grand for a flip phone.

So the "UTG" is just a joke.

Besides scratching deep grooves into it with your fingernail you can puncture holes in it too, like with plastic. It doesn't crack around it, which shows it's plain plastic. Putting some micro pieces of glass doesn't make it glass.
