Well let's say we are checking China's own infrastructure in terms of manufacturing. Who's double-checking the US? When the president can just order around anyone from EU up to Asia to stop everyone with US-technologies from manufacturing, does that ring any bells for you?

Part of the conclusion:
"Thecore of the Huawei et al.debate is not a narrow technology issue. There is,to date,no public evidence of serious technological vulnerabilities in specific Huawei or ZTE equipment." - CCDCOE research paper

Good, huawei phones are crap anyway, not bootloader unlocking, no root, special API level without modify phone, no nothing, etc.

Trump really has no ideal that 60% of mobile phones sold wordlwide come from China. If they invest together and 100% US-free, then the lost will be on US.

Huawei and China needs to change how they let governments control manufacturing of devices if they want the stigma of mass produced backdoors to go away.

Is it just me or the US authorities sound so desperate?

Screw us, china and huawei also for some bad policies.
I used to like huawei, it is my first choice when purchasing a new gadget, but this is to much.

This move by US is actually horrifying. For example, TSMC has bought those technologies/licences from a US manufacturer. At this point, we should ask this, are we really the ones owning our own US-based-tech device? If US can do this for crippling the industry, they sure can do more hideous moves. This is asking more people to Boycott US products, this is the start.

Tony, 18 Feb 2020This tension started with the rise of Huawei P30 Pro model.... moreP30 Pro is not a threat to US. It's Huawei's cheaper and much more efficient 5G modem/network that is much better than that of Qualcomm/Broadcomm/Intel, those 3 are lagging in than regard. If the US does not cripple Huawei, Huawei's 5G network has already been deployed in US and EU earlier.

Amerika is going to make it self weaker and weaker. Huawai allready is working on there own processor for computing and mobile with other chinees companies and these other brands are also helping huawei to start there own app store and they allready working on a new linux os and android os at the same time.

Also working on there own memory like we see in DDR5 for mobile and screens for mobile (TCL and Xiaomi) and what Amerika is doing is criple the own business because these companies put money away for all these devolpment. Huawei alone for software 10 Billion and for hardware just some more including with there partners to team up we talking billions and billion of money.

Trust me to say these US patent could be a downfall in value and a downfall for US business not to have market anymore is Asia, South Amerika, Afrika and also Europe if all these business in China . Also the US is afraid the have no control what you do and I do and not only in software facebook , but also in hardware like cisco (leaks after leaks) .

I think US force all Business world wide to keep and eye out to alternative because next it is a company from India or like we see in the Netherlands the US goverment force politics like the playing a game of hard ball.

The most dumb thing US did saying they send prove to the UK that Huawei allready spy on there LTE network since 2009 and that is impossible because the big rol out was in 2011 and 2010 LTE get it standaard in the month march. In 2009 it was a test in Oslo for the first time. So false information and UK says thanks and Huawei can be used for 5G in the UK.

So where will it end . I think it will end next year after China spend 100 billion of new chips. cpu, gpu and software. It will be quicker if Russia works together with China to get there.

tehyadro, 18 Feb 2020This whole thing is getting ridiculous more and more. Afte... moreZTE and Huawei mainly have cellular tech that could rival US cellular giants. US have no interest with Xiaomi because that company has no such tech. This is more than just crippling Huawei with their Kirin proc, stopping TSMC also prevents Huawei from developing their own modems and cellular components.

This is just too much. A whole nation against a company. Every company, every nation has right to innovate and foster.
US is playing risky game which will turn too expensive for itself. Now is the time all the countries gradually decouple from US and innovate indigenously.

As far as I know the last time I heard about it in the news was that the Dutch government fell for the American political pressure and forced ASML to stop the supply for Huawei.

whats wrong with the US at this point?
you say they are spying on you, so you make it so they don't sell phones in your country, that's good.

now why keep on going and witch hunt them down? TSMC as far as a know its not american so why are you going out of your way to make destroy their connections with everyone else? i wonder what would happen if china did that to an american company

Mr Trump is following orders from the CEOs of Google and Apple, and trying to do everything possible to stop the unstoppable growth of Huawei, inventing spy accusations without providing any evidence today. At the present day the only evidence that exists is Huawei already beats Apple and will soon do so with Samsung -> https://www.theverge.com/2020/1/30/21114885/huawei-overtakes-apple-2019 -analysts-strategy-analytics-counterpoint-research-canalys

This tension started with the rise of Huawei P30 Pro model. For the first time, USA feel really offended beaten by a chinese manufacturing company. Guess whose business was at stake?

The US administration is digging it's own grave. If Huawei and other non-US companies start innovating more, we should see the end of US and UK chup design and Google services. That would be great news for the world.
