Anonymous, 27 Feb 2020Nope this is exactly what a OnePlus 7t /Realme X2 pro user ... moreTrue, i am a realme x2 pro user, and i can definitely say sustained performance is not a thing in these casual phones(can play 1-2 hr causally, its fine, but not more), rog2 is a beast totally, i bought this because it's actually cheaper and less heavy and charging and battery tech ofcourse.

Anonymous, 27 Feb 2020It's not our fault that Android is offering us a buffet of ... moreCheap prices my ass, look at the GS20 series, is that cheap for you? iPhone 11 is way cheaper than the S20 this time, the Pro version costs roughly the same as the S20+. I used to hate Apple for their exorbitant prices too. But I now regret buying the S10. As my S10 is an Exynos SoC version, performance is underwhelming even compared to let's say a Pocophone F1 with Sd845. Can't even run PUBGM at the same settings as the Poco F1. Even S10e costs more than an iPhone 11 initially. Phones like the Vivo NEX 3 is also overpriced, this phone doesn't even sell at all in my country because of this. Oppo Reno 10x zoom doesn't sell although it has very good specs.

Most Android phones don't offer better build quality than an iPhone. Look at the overhyped Redmi K30, the phone is crushed when bent forcefully.

I got the iPhone this time and will sell the S10 soon. Not saying the iPhone is best. There is a reason I still have a heart for Android phones.

Looking forward to Oppo Reno3 Pro/Find X2 Pro and realme X50 Pro. Those phones can potentially be awesome, especially with 65W charging. Their build quality is also pretty good.

Anonymous, 27 Feb 2020It's not our fault that Android is offering us a buffet of ... moreBudget phones (i mean $300 and below) sure but gaming phones? They're not exactly midrange either and they contain more experimental hardware than any run of the mill phone. They take more stress than a normal phone because of the gaming so the chances of a malfunction are higher. Among these brands I only trust Asus to deliver. Don't you want to get your money's worth? You'll spend more money year by year buying these than iphones which btw is an unfair comparison because a serious gamer will never buy an iphone. MagicMonkeyBoy just has a hard-on for apple hate.

PangHu, 26 Feb 2020There are 90Hz phones such as the realme X2 Pro and OnePlus... moreMobile gaming actually comprises 37% on the entire world wide gaming industry, with a whopping 50 billion dollar revenue stream. It is also the fastest growing niche in gaming - 29% year over year, especially in Asia - 3.5 times faster than PC growth and 6.3 faster than console.

Your true gamer definition is starting to change with time.
Soon we will have pocketable portables that you can connect to any high end screen on the go and game like a PC user or a mobile (small screen) user.

domraym, 27 Feb 2020It's easy to say android is the best when you change phones... moreIt's not our fault that Android is offering us a buffet of choices & the latest and greatest at cheap prices. So why not upgrade?

Why stick to an iPhone for 5 plus years only to see it becoming a laughing stock against budget Androids.

MagicMonkeyBoy, 26 Feb 2020Not all of us are antique collectors or buyers. It's easy to say android is the best when you change phones every year. You avoid features that go unpolished, dropped software support and hardware flaws that show up over time. To go on insulting people that want to keep phones longer to save money is just childish.

PangHu, 27 Feb 2020You think those phones have no dedicated gaming mode? Even ... moreROG 2 is a premium gaming phone and it smokes anything else on the market.
It's a GOD as far as gaming phones is concerned. OnePlus or Realme simply don't come close.

Regarding lack of updates, ROG 2 getting updates 2-3 months late compared to OnePlus. So No dealbreaker.

Let's see what normal flagships phones with higher refresh rate lack :

              -Lack of air triggers.
-Lack of cooling where OnePlus and other flagships start thermal throttling after continuous gaming.
-Dedicated gaming modes aren't the only software tuning.
-Under the hood improvements of screen on ROG 2 which gives it lowest latency, highest touch sampling rate which improves gaming experience.
-More mics than one needs. More WiFi antennas for uninterrupted signals during online gaming.
-OnePlus/Realme capped at 90hz when 200 plus games can reach 120fps.
-Part of a premium ecosystem complete with gaming focused accessories that completely transform the gaming experience.
-RGB Goodness that gives it a unique look. A complete head turner in an ocean of similar looking phones.

Anonymous, 27 Feb 2020Nope this is exactly what a OnePlus 7t /Realme X2 pro user ... moreYou think those phones have no dedicated gaming mode? Even Samsung has one (Game Tools). It's just the features that are more limited but they do have the mode, at least.

Tried a friend's Razer Phone 2 (which he replaced last year with an Oppo R17 Pro because of damage and can't afford to purchase another one and refuses to fix it). While gaming performance is exemplary with 120Hz display, it's not far better than a regular Sd845 phone. It heats up anyway, but the threshold is higher than a regular Sd845 phone.

And what competitive games in the Play Store demand the use of a gaming phone? WoT, Shadowgun Legends, Dead Trigger 2, not much actually. Dude that's pointless. Many games does support 120fps but those are not competitive games and you may be able to do that in a regular 120Hz display handset. S20 and Oppo Find X2 is coming soon.

Also gaming phones lack support, look at the late updates of ROG Phone, check ZenTalk forum. Also Asus refuses to acknowledge the fact that ROG Phone 1 displays break for no reason. Xiaomi also pushes software updates late. Not too sure for ZTE with its nubia RM.

Gaming phones are quite pointless for now.

These guys have zero experience using premium gaming phones.
Let me give you a hint :It's just better!!!

Dedicated gaming phones like ROG 2 have under the hood improvements that are not available for non gaming phones. There is a reason why they are called gaming phones.

But both phones seem to support controllers, so what? Both the X2 Pro and 7T can play games at very high details. The chipset is exactly the same. You only skimp out cooling, but these phones don't throttle a lot in games.

And true gamers don't play mobile games, true gamers buy a console or gaming PC with GTX/RTX/Radeon Pro GPU.

Will they keep flip camera setup for Zenfone 7?

More than 200 plus games currently support high refresh rate. Here's a list:

Kek, 26 Feb 2020It is not that we dont know in the West about gaming phones... moreThat is false. These gaming phones are not just gaming console replacements. They are just high end phones. And way better a value than an iphone could ever be to even pretend for one second to put them in the same category.
And by your logic there is no need to worry about any aspect of a phone. Display, processor, camera, etc. There is a more powerful stand alone device.

The facts are that gaming phones offer a lot even to the non or casual gamer. Different and striking looks, better battery, unique features, aspects of the display, performance, so on, and even price value.

As it stands right now, gaming cellphones are more marketing pushed like an iPhone, and even if some of them have interesting features, they are not that of a hot thing either. Personally, I prefer to play on my 3DS/Vita than on my cellphone since there are not that much quality games in mobile either. Most of them are gacha based or pay2win.
